Canadian dollar now worth nearly $1.06

THE CANADIAN PRESS -- TORONTO - The Canadian dollar surged to a  high. 

The currency gained 0.23 of a cent to close at 105.78 cents US after earlier running up as high as 106.11 cents US, its highest level since late November 2007.

The US dollar has also surged more than 1.5 cents US since Tuesday. 

the Canadian dollar has been worth more than the US dollar for several months.
