TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Rick Scott's chief adviser Mary Anne Carter announced her resignation. According to the St.Petersburg times, she was Scott's most influential adviser.
Carter's family lives in Tennessee. In a note to the Florida, governor, Carter wrote:
"I appreciate your asking me to serve a while longer in your administration," Carter said in her resignation letter. "I have had a wonderful time and while tempting, I believe it is in my best interest to stay with my original timeline of leaving at the end of this month. I have family obligations that demand my attention, and I want to return to my business practice as another election cycle begins."
According to the latest Quinnipiac Poll on May 25,2011 Florida voters disapproved 57 - 29 percent of the job Gov. Rick Scott is doing, the worst score of any governor in the states surveyed by the university. Scott's ratings dropped down from a 48 - 35 percent disapproval in an Quinnipiac's April 6 survey.
