Republicans are magik because they know how to burn a candle at both ends. They also successfully make arguments that don't hold water.
Let me give you some examples. The Great bush recession started in 2007 and recently ended due to the efforts of the Obama administration and Pelosi congress to to stimulate the economy. This approach is hardly revolutionary. Government spending in hard times is a maxim of Keynesian economics.
Of course, in the 2008 election cycle the GOP took the House by making the case that Obama caused the "bad economy."
Rick Scott used the same argument to become governor of Florida. Never mind that the Florida government had been controlled by the GOP for the past 12 years and the conservative "tax cuts" never panned out and led to the closure of schools and the lay offs of police, teachers and fire fighters.
Now Obama has been in office for more than two years and he recently took out Osama Bin Laden. GOP politicians strated falling all over themselves saying that Bush was responsible for the death of Bin Laden.
Dick Cheney even went on record saying the US needs to continue to use "enhanced interrogation technigues." This is conservative-speak for "torture."
Where do you think the GOP got the term "enhanced interrogation techniques?" The Germans first used this term in 1945.
