This is a disgraceful ad full of propaganda and misinformation.
The latest study indicates the Roman empire fell because of climate change, not because of taxes or government spending. The British empire fell because it overextended its colonial empire and participated in two world wars that exhausted the economy.
According to Wikipedia, China does not own the American debt, Nearly 5 trillion of foreign debt is owned by many different countries. China has US IOUs for $1.1 trillion, but has been reducing it ownership. Americans own 53 per cent of the US debt.
The Chinese are primarily responsible or their economic miracle but they are still a third World country. The offshoring of US plants, jobs and technical expertise in China has also been beneficial to the PRC.
This ad was produced by Citizens Against Government Waste has been deemed "too controversial" by major networks including ABC, A&E and The History Channel and will not be shown on those channels.
The commercial is a remake of a 1986 ad that was entitled "The Deficit Trials" that was also banned by the major networks.
Perhaps it the Chinese Professor who is the most alarming: "Of course, we owned most of their debt, so now they work for us".
Rightardia has already mentioned that the Chinese, if fact, do not own most of the American debt, Americans own the majority.This is a bold-faced lie.
No doubt, the reactionary emos like the Tea Party, who are too dumb to know better, will love this ad.
