The new Zodiac

Ophiuchus is a large constellation located around the celestial equator. Its name is Greek for 'serpent-bearer', and it is commonly represented as a man grasping the snake that is represented by the constellation Serpens.

Ophiuchus was one of the 48 constellations listed by the second-century astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations.Because of the earth's movement, some astrolgers call it the 13th Zodiac sign.

Ophiuchus points  to the galactic rift in the Milky way. Astrologers have not included Ophiuchus in the wheel of Astrological signs because the Sun spends only about nineteen days in this 13th sign.

Initially astrologers beleived the Sun travelled from the constellation 'Scorpius' and then proceeded directly into the sign of Sagittarius.

Today we know that it is the Earth that moves, not the Sun.

The Sun, for 19 days of the year, travels through the star constellation 'Ophiuchus' before entering Sagittarius from Scorpius.

The sign of Ophiuchus is patterned after the original 'Serpent Holder', Enki, a Sumerian god.

The constellation of Ophiuchus is the only sign of the Zodiac which is linked to a real man. This man lived in ancient
Egypt around the 27th century BCE, and his name was Imhotep, the first known physician.

The doctors' symbol is A staff or rod, with a snake curled around it. It is the staff or rod of Aesculapius , the ancient mythical god of medicine. The same symbol is often used for Ophiuchus,
If you were born between  NOVEMBER 30 and DECEMBER 17, OPHIUCHUS is your sign.

A lot of oculists were suggesting that the appearance of Ophiuchus would herald the end of Earth and have linked it to the Mayan calendar.
