Is Obama a day late and a dollar short? According to Intrade, the GOP has a 94 per cent probability of taking control of the House so that appears to be a done deal.
It also has a 59 per cent probability of winning 60 or more seats in the Senate which are great odds for Republicans.
We hope the Democrats can hold onto at least 40 seats and return some favors to the GOP.
Rightardia predicted more than a month ago that the Republicans would take the House. We suggested a firewall around the Senate would be the best approach. I the Democrats lose the Senate, the Republicans will have 'clintonized' Obama.
Our view is that the Democrats spent entirely too much time on bipartisanship and health care and not enough time on unemployment.
Haley Barbour is right, too.The public has no love for Republicans.
“We Republicans, we have to understand they’re not saying, ‘Hey, we love you, Republicans,’ ” Barbour said. “They’re saying, ‘We’re not satisfied with this, and we’ll give you guys a chance.’ ”
Republicans, he said, need to be careful to not stray away from the narrow set of issues they’ve been successful campaigning on if they want to remain in power if they take control the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections . . .
The Republicans are going to hear the people very plainly,” Barbour said. “Cut out all this spending, don’t raise our taxes, focus on job creation, economic growth.”
