Florida's governor-elect Rick Scott, who is best known for that time his company -- Hospital Corporation of America -- bilked the government by fraudulently "upcoding" Medicare billing codes, earning a record-setting $1.7 billion fine in the process.

You were probably wondering how soon some sort of shady-ass nonsense would emerge after the election.

TPM's Ryan J. Reilly has the answer to the question, "Well, guess what?"

Mark Don Givens told Florida's WTSP News that he was expecting a paycheck after he made phone calls and knocked on doors for the Scott campaign, which made jobs a top issue in the election.

Givens said he and other workers were upset after they were told by the campaign that they could not offer them a paycheck and were given American Express gift cards instead.

"This would violate both tax laws and labor laws," Melanie Sloan, the Executive Director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) told TPMmuckraker in an email. "It looks like the newly elected AG will be investigating the newly elected governor.

Was this some sort of ornate plan to stimulate the local economy? Well, according to Reilly, the Scott campaign maintains that there was some sort of "issue" getting checks to these workers, which is odd, given that Scott is a crazy-rich grifter king who self-financed his own bid for the statehouse.

Well, anything happen to Scott for not paying his campaign workers. This is unlikely because the unqualified Republican Pam "Buffy" Bondi won the attorney general race and she would be unlikely to prosecute Scott.

Bondi was voted Tampa bay's best dressed in 2009 and promised to lower taxes as the attorney general. This was a ludicrous claim because the attorney general is not directly involved with Florida taxation.

Rightardia was surprised that Republicans pay their campaign workers. On the Democratic side, callers and field workers are rarely paid with the exception of Organizing for America field organizers.

The campaign workers should file a wage and hour complaint if they want to be paid. Scott violated federal wage and hour law. The Feds will make thus grifter governor pay up.
