Dancing with the Stars: Parting Comments

First, the best dancer won which is the way it is supposed to be.

Were the best dancers in the finals? Probably not. Both Brandy and Audrina Patridge could have easily been in the finals instead of Kyle and Bristol.

Len Goodman will be off DWTS after this season. Rightardia is happy to see him go. He is overly conservative and his ratings have been at odds with the other judges.

In two of the dances tonight, he gave Bristol Palin 9s tonight instead of Kyle Massey who is the better dancer. He did the same thing in the free style yesterday because he didn't like urban hip hop which he calls the boogallo.

There is a reason they call it the free style, Len. it's the dancers choice.

Bristol Palin didn't deserve third place because she  should have been eliminated weeks ago. Her foot work is sloppy and she dances flat footed. She is far slower on her feet  than most of the other dancers in the competition. Because of her weight, her partner was unable to perform lifts during the competition.

ABC  did a sleight of hand. yesterday was the finals and  the voting that  was cast on Moday's performances. Today the three teams danced again with the following scores:

Jennifer and Derick: 118  36 per cent
Kyle and Tracey:      110  33 per cent
Bristol and Mark      104  31 per cent

The uncontrolled viewer voting from yesterday was then added in to the new scores. Since the percentages were identical to what we computed last night, we doubt if the competition today affected the outcome.

Some changes need to be made to the scoring. First, anyone finishing in first place on the leaderboard should be given a pass from the public voting.

Second, a judges only round is needed in the semi-finals in which the judges can take out an underperforming dancer like Brstol with a large fan base. DWTS used to do this, but the judges gave a pass to Bristol.

DWTS had a similar problem with Marie Osmond. She couldn't dance well either, but the fans carried her into the semi-finals. The judges finally took her out.

The judges need to more critical in the weeks before the finals. Once the dancers are whittled down to about 4 people, there were entirely too many 9 and 10 scores.

Because the judges liberalized scoring in the finals weeks which gave the dancers scores that are nearly identical, the public voting determines the weekly winners. This is how Bristol got into the finals.

Many people do not understand the stresses these dancers have. There is a reason DWTS pick athletes such as ice skaters and Olympians for the competition.

The pros are all highly athletic and in excellent physical shape. Anyone who thinks the male dancers are lilac-scented Nancy boys are mistaken. Pro dancing is equivalent to running a marathon. It is very strenuous and injuries are common.

Rightardia can't wait until next year's 12th season.
