Dancing with the Stars by the numbers

We pointed out in another article today that the real Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) ratings are percentages, not the raw judges' scores. This is what the scoring really looks like.

1. Jennifer and Derrick  60 points   36 per cent
2. Kyle and Tracey        56 points  33 percent
3. Bristol and mark       52 points   31 percent

Although Jennifer and Derrick are the best dancers, they could still lose to Bristol and Mark. Bristol and Mark would have to take 41 per cent  or more of the public vote to tie (31 + 41) = 72 per cent/2=36 per cent. If they pull 42 per cent or higher, Bristol and Mark will win the competition.

If Jennifer and Derrick take 35 per cent of the vote or less, they could lose assuming Bristol and Mark pull 41 per cent of the audience or higher.

We doubt if Kyle and Tracey could win because they lack the fan base of the other two dancers. Because the judges scores rarely have a big spread in the finals, the public voting usually determines who wins.
