Kia Motors to recall about 18,000 vehicles



SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Kia Motors Corp., the No. 2 carmaker in South Korea, will recall more than 18,000 vehicles for problems with courtesy lights caused by poor electrical wiring, Seoul's government said.

According to a statement issued by the ROK Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs, the action will affect a total of 18,272 vehicles, including 5,920 units of the Soul hatchback wagon made from Sept. 17, 2009 to June 8, 2010, 6,744 units of the K7 sedan manufactured between Dec. 11, 2009, and July 1 2010, and 4,305 units of the Sorento sport utility vehicle and 1, 303 units of the Mohave SUV, both produced between the period from Sept. 1, 2009 to July 1 2010.

Free repair services will be provided to owners of such vehicles at Kia's service centers, or the company will offer reimburse expenses for owners who repair the defect on their own, the ministry said.
