Wingnut attacks on Social Security
It looks like the right wing media has received RNC talking points on Social Security as a Ponzi schme.
Fox's Bolling: Social Security "kind of like a Ponzi scheme ... should rename it the Madoff Social Security system"
Hoenig repeats discredited claim that "Social Security is, by definition, a Ponzi scheme"
Fox Business promo decries Medicare and Social Security as Ponzi schemes
Scarborough says the federal government is "running a Ponzi scheme: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid"
On Beck, WSJ's Moore compares Social Security to "a big ponzi scheme"
Social Security and Medicare are, in fact, forced saving programs that allow an American seniors to retire in dignity.
Wall street and US corporations would love to loot the Social security trust fund like the corporatists did in the UK when Margaret Thatcher was the prime minister.
The UK experiment at privatizing social security was a dud and UK seniors draw about half of what Americans receive when they draw Social Security benefits because the conservative experiment to privatize social security flopped.
Rightardia has alo written an article pointing out the fisherman in the Gulf are not paying federal income tax or FICA so they are unable to document their income with BP and are therefore not eligible for compensation.
Without 40 quarters of FICA payments, a claimant is not eligible for Social Security or Medicare Part A. Many of these fisherman will end up on welfare when they can no longer work.
It is naive to think that every American will have the ability and discipline to prepare for retirement. That is the GOP view: everybody should be on their own.
