A Big Branch Mine worker claims his supervisor ordered an electrician to disable a methane gas detector, which could have alerted miners to danger in a deadly West Virginia explosion.
An active gas detector would have also have prevented equipment form operating that could have sparked an explosion.
Miners are afraid to speak up because they are not unionized and will be fired if they make waves about mine safety conditions.
