RIA Novosti: New Russian multiple rocket launcher

The scaled-down Smerch (Tornado) multiple-launch rocket system weighs 25 metric tons or almost two times less than the basic version.

Designers say this was made possible by reducing the number of launch tubes. The killing zone was also reduced from 67 hectares to 32 hectares. This is the only drawback, developers say.

But the new system’s other specifications match those of the older model.
