US draws its first World Cup game

Rightardia has always been a big fan of soccer, a true international sport. The US soccer team has 23 members. A local NFL, football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has a roster that includes 85 players and two free agents.

NFL football has become bloated with its special teams and numerous time outs. Soccer is far more dynamic game.

Jack Kemp, the Republican candidate for vice president in 1996 said this about the two footballs:

I think it is important for all those young out there, who someday hope to play real football, where you throw it and kick it and run with it and put it in your hands, a distinction should be made that football is democratic, capitalism, whereas soccer is a European socialist sport.

If American football is a capitalist sport,  it is bloated, over specialized and parochial. American football is only played in the US although there is a Canadian version and a league was also recently started in Europe. American football is actually closer to rugby than to soccer.

NFL football has become a huge corporate business that has  taken the sportsmanship out of the game. It costs a family of four $350 to $400 to watch a game if that includes a modest lunch at the stadium. A ticket to an NFL game now costs $80 to $90 per person.

Football (soccer) was first played in ancient China and the sport was popular during the Roman era. It is an ancient sport.

Rightardia wishes the US team the best in the World Cup and is happy it was able to salvage a tie with the UK in the 40th minute.
