Texas wingnut wants to block homosexual divorce

April 21, 2010

The Texas attorney general is moving to stop gay couples from divorcing in the state. He says their divorces should be unconstitutional.

Texas law forbids gay marragie, but says nothing about divorce. The Texas couple who was granted the divorce was married in Massachusetts.

A survey in Sweden suggests homosexual marriages are not as stable as heterosexual. The fact that most of these couples do not have children may be a factor.

The survey revealed a high rate of legal divorce among homosexual couples in Sweden. Gay male couples were 50% more likely to divorce within an eight-year period than were heterosexuals; and lesbian couples were 167% more likely to divorce than heterosexual couples.
