Advice to Republicans

1. Stop talking about Ronald Reagan. Few people remember the old fossil.

2. Stop kidding yourselves you you are the 'true Americans.' Most of the important Founding Fathers like Jefferson, Madison, Adams and Franklin were Democrats.

3. Get over the Civil War. The South was defeated and does not represent an alternative conservative reality. The nullification issue was resolved during the Civil War. There is a federal supremacy clause in the US Constitution.

4. Stop using polls to suggest you speak for America. All polls are transitory and show wide swings over time. The Republicans are the minority party. You lost the 2008 elections 'big time.' Deal with it.

5. Try to work with Democrats on bipartisan legislation as the Democrats did with President Bush. You cannot win elections by saying 'no' to every Democratic idea.

6. Go outside of the GOP box and try to develop some new programs. A party that primarily centers around tax cuts and war is one dimensional.

7. Re-frame the GOP as a loyal opposition. The GOP and Tea party movement come across as confederates and anarchists. The GOP can do better than this.
