An initiative
has been launched by the US to expand ties with Russia in all spheres
of society. Sophie Shevardnadze talked to Judith McHale, US Under
Secretary of State for public diplomacy and public affairs.
“We probably don’t know as much about each other as I think we should. So the purpose of our whole initiative here is to be sure that we take every opportunity we can to expand that base of knowledge across our countries in all sectors of society,” Under Secretary McHale told RT.
Rightardia agrees. The Russians could provide valuable expertise and logistics support in Afghanistan. We should start working with the Russians again and amend the Jackson-Vanik amendment to we can trade with the Russians.
We have trade with China who is a communist nation, but not the Russians who abandoned communism. Many Americans still erroneously refer to the Russians as the Soviet Union. Obama should invite one of the Russian leaders to Washington, drink some vodka and move on.
It's time for Russia and the US to be good friends again like we were during World War 2 when the Allies defeated fascism.
