Our writers listened to about 30 minutes of Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse's speech. It is clear that the GOP is not handling it loss of poltical power well. As Whitehouse has stated:
They [the GOP] are desparate to break the president. The birthers, the militias, the lifers--- it is unbearable to them for the presidency of Barack Obama to exist."
Sen. Whithouse mentioned that Democratic senators have faced 100 filibusters in the past year which is unprecedented. It is time for the nuclear option.
Tell the GOP to back off or change the cloture rules. Reduce cloture to 57 votes or less. This would probably take a month to do, but the Senate would be able to get a lot fo business done in the following year.
