AMD may Gain Notebook Share on Intel Lawsuit: Video. Bloomberg talks around the AMD lawsuit, but essentially Intel was paying computer retailers to advertise PCs and laptops with Intel chipsets. but not competitive machines with AMD chipsets that cost less.
Intel lost a huge lawsuit in the EU over its anti-competitive behavior which opened the door for AMD to sue Intel in the US. The GPU is the Graphics Processing Unit. It takes graphics processing overhead off of the Central Processing Unit (CPU) to speed up video displays. AMD has a competitive adavantage with its GPUs.
With Democrats running the Justice Department, anti-competitive lawsuits will be more likely to succeed in federal courts.
