HuffPo: Florida ranked 50th in happiness index

Previous Rank: 50

Non-Mortgage Debt as % of Annual Income: 36.81%

Unemployment Rate: 11%

Foreclosure Rate (1 foreclosure per # of households): 56

Florida Happiness Index Value: 136

With the third highest foreclosure rate in the country, 11% unemployment and a high non-mortgage debt rate, it's not surprising that Florida has dropped to the bottom of the Happiness Index. The Sunshine State is facing an extremely depressed housing market.

According to an Orlando Sentinel article, authorities have devoted significant resources to combating fraudulent mortgages in the troubled state. U.S. Attorney Brian Albritton told the Sentinel that Florida is "ground-zero for mortgage fraud."

What do Floridians expect after two terms of Gov. Jeb Bush followed by Gov. Charlie Crist.  Republicans almost always make a mess of things with their misguided tax policies. Twelve years of GOP rule is an accident waiting to happen.
