At a time when attendance at Catholic Churches in the US is declining, Rightardia would expect the Catholic Church to be more accepting of matters of conscience.
We also remember when the Catholic Church and the GOP blundered into the Terri Schaivo controversy and stating mixing up church and state. This hurt the GOP in the 2008 elections.
Since Pope John Paul II, the church has become stiflingly conservative and has been more concerned about the abortion issue than social justice.
