Why the US is not a Christian nation

The 'Christian nation' rant of the right is bogus. You cannot find the words 'God, 'Christian' or 'Jesus ' in the US Constitution. The first amendment which led to the doctrine of separation of church and state is called the Establishment Clause.

Many of the Founders were deists but not theists. They believed in God but not organized religion. Ben Franklin, one of America's first scientists,  in fact, may have been an atheist or agnostic.

The Treaty of Tripoli with the Barbary Sates offer conclusive proof the US was not a Christian nations. It was endorsed by the entire US Senate, published in two Philadelphia papers without controversy and signed by president John Adams.

Righatardia offers a special thanks to LTSaloon.org for this cartoon since many of our writers have been attacking evangelical morons for the 'Christian nation historical revisionist myth' for a long time. Apparently the right forgot the commandment about bearing false witness against their neighbours.
