Rightardia editorial: Astroturfer Illogic

 
If you listen to the Astroturfer feigned outrage, you hear stuff like this:

I have worked all my life (haven't most of us) and I don't want this socialized health care.

What this person is really saying is they don't buy into the Obama paradigm shift that health care is a basic human right. Some others dislike health care reform because it will benefit the poor, blacks and Hispanics who are the bogey men for the lower class whites (Astroturfers, Birthers, Tea Baggers, and ditto heads) who are undereducated. 

Then there are the people who think changing health care law is unconstitutional and these folks have the audacity to tell the president, who is a constitutional attorney, and other politicians, most of whom are attorneys, that they have a better grasp of what the Founders really meant. The words 'free enterprise' and 'capitalism' are not in the US Constitution. The preamble states:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Surely, a national health care program would promote the general welfare of Americans. Most of these right wingers think that defense is the only function of the federal government, but it is actually listed third after establishing justice and insuring domestic tranquillity.

Then there is the the 'we don't trust you' rant. Of course these people don't trust Democrats. These folks were the losers in the 2008 election. We have seen the same people at Tea Bagger and Birther protests. The point is the Democrats won the election handily and the majority of Americans trust the President Obama and his Democratic administration.

Quite frankly, Democrats don't trust these Birthters, Tea Baggers and Astroturfers either. One man showed up at a presidential town hall meeting with a gun and another man was arrested today for displaying a sign advocating the death of President Obama. Democrats are aware of the accelerating racism and militia activity.

Then there are 'leave Britney alone' types. They want the gubbbermint to leave 'em alone. Fine. There is nothing to prevent people from buying private insurance. But many other people will want public health care option because it is cheaper. What the 'leave me alone' types want is not what most Americans will want once they have an option for public health insurance.

Socialized medicine doesn't work. Well, it does work in most of the industrial nations of the world have public health care system except the US and South Africa. Our private health care system is dead last in the industrial nations of the world. The World Health Organization ranks us 37th, Canada is 30th, the UK is 18th and France is number one. Our private health care system is the exception rather than the rule. Here are the WHO rankings:

The 'I've got mine' seniors and conservatives. These people are happy with Medicare or the private plan they have and don't seem to have much empathy for anybody but themselves. Of course, the health care industry's Nick Naylors are doing a great job of scaring them by telling them about 'death panels,' 'rationed care' and 'end of life counseling.' Keep in mind, too, that the elderly were the one demographic that Obama didn't win in the 2008 elections.

I fully expect AARP to endorse the Obama health care plan. I think the Democrats have enough folks in the House and Senate to do what is best for Americans even if it doesn't conform to most senior opinions on health care.
