Rightardia found this video on The Onion satire site which made it suspect. There is no representative named Lynn Merriweather on the list of California representatives. The Democratic Underground also uncovered the spoof. It is plausible that a Republican would write a bill on such a superficial issue.

Haha, the democratic underground solved the mystery! The onion next to the NN must have thrown them pretty hard but alas, they realized it was a spoof. I wish I was as informed and intelligent as them.
