Wisconsin recall only days away

Rightardia hopes the Wisconsin recall is successful.

In a related story, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s co-star in a recent video where he talked about using his budget repair bill to “divide and conquer” the state paid zero in taxes in 2010. 

Diane Hendricks, a billionaire and the richest woman in the state, saw her tax drop from $2.2 million in 2009 to zero in 2010. Hendricks, Walker’s largest campaign donor, managed the feat by changing ABC Supply’s tax structure. 

Last year, Hendricks was revealed to be one of the anonymous million dollar donors to the Koch Brothers political efforts. 

The revelation was made by Charles Koch himself during a speech at a private event secretly recorded and delivered to Mother Jones magazine. 

In a video released last month Hendricks is seen asking Walker how he would begin the process of turning Wisconsin into a right-to-work state.
Wisconsin is fortunate to have the recall option. Florida does not.

A certain anti-union governor will get a recall election

United Wisconsin collected 1 million signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker. Both Walker and his Lt.Gov, Rebecca Kleefisch. will face recall elections.

United Wisconsin also got sufficient votes to for recall elections for four GOP state senators.

MADISON – United Wisconsin today announced that more than one million Wisconsinites have signed a petition to recall Scott Walker, representing the most-participated-in major recall effort in American history, and a number so significant that it is beyond any legal challenge. 

More then 845,000 signatures were collected for Rebecca Kleefisch. Signatures were submitted to the Government Accountability Board this afternoon.

The signatures represent the largest recall effort in the history of the United States and 185 percent of the signatures needed to trigger a recall of Walker.

“The collection of more than one million signatures represents a crystal clear indication of how strong the appetite is to stop the damage and turmoil that Scott Walker has caused Wisconsin,” said Ryan Lawler, board member for United Wisconsin.

 “Scott Walker and his supporters tried to demean and marginalize recall circulators, but in Wisconsin winter, an army of more than 30,000 Wisconsin born-and-bred recall volunteers took to street corners, malls, places of worship, dinner tables and sidewalks to take their state back.

The total of a million signatures to recall Scott Walker represents nearly half, 46 percent, of the electorate – and is just shy of the TOTAL votes received by Walker in his 2010 election (Walker received 1.12 million votes).

In comparison, this figure surpasses the per capita participation in the effort to trigger a ballot initiative in Ohio last fall against a Republican union-busting effort, where 32 percent of the electorate signed the petition, and in America’s only other two gubernatorial recalls, 

in 2003 in California and in 1921 in North Dakota, the signature totals were 23.4 percent and 31.8 percent, of the electorate signed respectively. The attached charts outline these figures.

Fun facts about the recall petitions of Walker, Kleefisch and the Senate recalls include:

The weight of all of the signatures collected is 3,000 pounds. That’s two of the heaviest Wisconsin Dairy (Holstein) Cows, or 158 of the heaviest Badgers.

300,000 pages at 14″ each laid end to end is 66.3 miles. This is the distance from Green Bay to Oshkosh, La Crosse to Tomah.

Stood straight up the petition pile is 128 times higher than the tallest building in the world.

Stacked on top of one another, the petitions would reach 125 feet high, which is taller than the wings of the Madison Capitol Building (those are 84 feet high).

WIN: Recall Walker Movement gathers Rose bowl signatures

Wisconsin's Recall Walker movement will be collecting signatures at the Rose Bowl in California to recall the governor as the Badgers take on the Ducks on the field. A recall rally will be held before the game. At least 507,533 signatures have been collected toward the needed total of 540,208 by January 17th. Walker is being recalled for stripping collective bargaining rights from public workers in Wisconsin.

Recall Rick Scott before he wrecks the state

A MoveOn.org activist in Jacksonville, Roger N. Thomas, is trying to get the nation's worst governor recalled. Rep. Rick Kriseman of St Petersburg and state Sen. Gwen Margolis have had little luck in getting a constitutional  amendment on the ballot allowing recalls in Florida.

Governor Rick Scott's voter satisfaction rating is lower than virtually any other governor, and the GOP legislature simply supports or even expands on his disastrous policies.But unlike in 18 other states, the citizens of Florida have no legal method to recall Gov. Scott on SignOn.org, which says:Whereas the voters of Florida have politicians that routinely pass legislation and take executive privilege beyond the voter's expressed desires, we demand the right to recall politicians (both legislative and executive) who fail to meet the electorate's mandates. Gov. Scott walker sues GAB over recall procedure

The Republican lawsuit, filed in a WS county court is a bit odd. It  asks a judge to order the Government Accountability Board (GAB) to look for and eliminate duplicative signatures, obviously fake names such as Mickey Mouse and clearly illegible signatures on the recall petitions.

According to the GAB this work needs to be completed by a staff who represents Gov. Walker, not the GAB.

The GAB reviews petitions to ensure there are sufficient  signatures to trigger a recall. It  will verify that signatures are accompanied by a Wisconsin address and dated within the recall period. 

The board argues that state law says it's up to the office holder affected by the recall petition to contest the validity of signatures, identify illegible signatures and to find  duplicates.

The lawsuit filed by Walker's campaign and the state Republican Party argues that the review process violates the U.S. Constitution's equal protection clause. 

The lawsuit asks a judge to get the GAB to do this work. 

Rightardia finds the lawsuit hilarious. United Wisconsin is hoping to get between 600,000 and 700,000 signatures that would make the review almost moot. 

It looks like Scott Walker will next try to get an  injunction on the recall to delay it until this frivolous suit is resolved.

Gov. Scott Walker likely to face recall election

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Mike Tate announced the news in a press conference conference that the party still planned to collect more than 700,000 signatures before the Jan. 17 deadline,

United Wisconsin must have 540,208 valid signatures in order to trigger a recall race.

After 30 Days the United Wisconsin recall organizers have already collected more than 500,000 signatures.

Wisconsin’s campaign to recall Gov. Scott Walker for his attack on public worker collective bargaining is off to a powerful, robust start. United Wisconsin is spearheading the recall effort. United Wisconsin board co-chair Lynn Freeman.

[Freeman]: “We have a database of over 210,000 interested citizens of the state of Wisconsin who would like to recall the governor. Our volunteers are over 7,000 strong. We’ve participated in circulator training all over the state for the past few weeks. Right now there’s more than 9,000 people trained to be petition circulators. We’re optimistic that we will get well over the 540,000-plus that we’ll need to demonstrate that the citizens of Wisconsin do not want Scott Walker to be their governor.”

We Are Wisconsin, the state Democratic Party and recallwalker.org are some of the other groups that are very active in the recall. Three Republican state senators are also being recalled. Recall Walker parties and events are being held statewide. This Saturday the recall movement will hold a huge rally in Madison.

Wisconsin Protesters disrupt GOP Congressman's Town Hall Meeting In Governor's Hometown

State reps Jim Sensenbrenner and Leah Vukmir, of the 5th Senate District, walked out on their unhappy constituents after about 30 minutes of threatening to do so because attendees wanted to discuss the political unrest in Wisconsin.

It's good to see American labor on its feet. The GOP brought this upon itself with its staged Tea Party movement and its desire to destroy public unions.

Kill the bill and recall Walker

MADISON, WS -- Gov. Scott Walker's (R-Wis.) controversial bill to strip away collective bargaining rights from public employees is currently stalled. This is due to Senate Democrats who left the state in order to prevent their GOP colleagues from reaching a quorum needed to move forward.

In an interview with The Huffington Post , freshmen Democratic Assembly Member Brett Hulsey said they're trying to put as much grassroots pressure as possible on Republicans.

"What we're telling people is to call people you know in Republican districts," said Hulsey. "Tell them to call their senators and Republican members at home. When you see them at church and at the grocery store, tell them to kill the bill."

The second strategy will come only if Republicans decide to stick with Walker. According to Wisconsin law, voters can recall any elected official in the state, as long as they've been in office for at least a year.

This process involves collecting signatures for a recall position and then holding an election. ThinkProgress' Ian Millhiser has reported, there are eight Republicans who could currently be recalled.

"We've seen what happens when Scott Walker and the Republicans have total control: You get dictatorial power," said Hulsey."

Recall Walker" is a popular chant amongst protesters in Madison, although Walker just took office in 2011 and therefore cannot be recalled until next year.

Florida has the same problem, but no recall law to fall back on. State Representative Democrat Rick Kriseman (D-Pinellas) is introducing a bill that will allow for the recall of state officials including the grifter-governor, Rick Scott.

Ford is recalling half a million Winstars

WCPO ABC 9 Cincinnati, OH Aug. 27, 2010. 05:58 PM EST

This effects Winstars built between 1998 and 2003. The recall is in 21 salt belt states. The defect cause the rear axle to break in two.

All Winstars should be checked. Many cars from salt belt states have been resold in other states.

Kia Motors to recall about 18,000 vehicles

SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Kia Motors Corp., the No. 2 carmaker in South Korea, will recall more than 18,000 vehicles for problems with courtesy lights caused by poor electrical wiring, Seoul's government said.

According to a statement issued by the ROK Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs, the action will affect a total of 18,272 vehicles, including 5,920 units of the Soul hatchback wagon made from Sept. 17, 2009 to June 8, 2010, 6,744 units of the K7 sedan manufactured between Dec. 11, 2009, and July 1 2010, and 4,305 units of the Sorento sport utility vehicle and 1, 303 units of the Mohave SUV, both produced between the period from Sept. 1, 2009 to July 1 2010.

Free repair services will be provided to owners of such vehicles at Kia's service centers, or the company will offer reimburse expenses for owners who repair the defect on their own, the ministry said.

Honda recalls 428,000 cars in North America

Honda Motor is recalling more than 400,000 cars in North America. It's due to a defect that could cause the cars to roll away if parked incorrectly.

The recall in the U.S. would include the Accord, Civic and Element models from 2003 and 2004, and the same models in Canada along with the Acura.

Japan's No.2 said in some situations a part known as the ignition interlock could fail. A device intended to keep keys from being removed if the vehicle is not in park.

Separately, Honda will cut production at one of its main Japanese plants from October.

The automaker also expects domestic demand to trail off with government subsidies for eco-friendly cars set to end Sept. 30.

The end of subsidies is seen potentially triggering a price war with rival hybrid maker Toyota. Honda is launching the market's cheapest hybrid in October for about $18,600.

Shares of Honda, which made a $2.7 billion operating profit last quarter, were slightly higher by midday Tuesday, as the yen eased mildly against the dollar.
