Generally Democrats are more alturistic than Republicans. If you want an example, try the the Affordable Care Act.
Mittens can't seem to let an issue go that is not benefiting his campaign and has reversed his position on the nature of the individual mandate, trying to sell it as a huge middle calls tax increase.
So far all Mittens has done is create dilemma or himself because his MA healthcare program was the model for the Affordable Care Act.
Give a hand to Obama and the Democrats. They tackle huge national problems that GOP would never touch. Democrats gave the nation wage and hour laws, Social Security, Medicare, voting rights and now huge national healthcare reforms.
Obama took a licking, but he keeps on ticking! He appears to be in an excellent position to be reelected.
Also, give Chief Justice John Roberts credit for breaking away from the conservative Gang of Five. His ruling was in the best interest of the United States.
Time to Move Forward:Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act, ensuring that hard-working, middle class families will get the security they deserve and protecting every American from the worst insurance company abuses. This comprehensive reform enables young adults, seniors, small businesses, and families to better afford health care benefits.
Jobs for Heroes and their Families: On Monday, Vice President Biden announced new Vets-to-Cops hiring grants for cities and counties across the nation, which will create approximately 600 law enforcement jobs for post-9/11 veterans. On Tuesday, First Lady Michelle Obama was in Chicago to announce that Illinois has signed the Military Family Licensing Act into law, making it easier for military spouses to transition jobs when they are forced to move by removing restrictions on the transfer of professional licenses. Illinois became the 23rd state to adopt pro-military spouse license portability measures.
Do You Qualify? This week the White House released an interactive tool that helps homeowners determine if they would be eligible to refinance their mortgage. With interest rates at historic lows, refinancing could mean an average saving of $3000 a year. President Obama is urging Congress to pass legislation that would allow homeowners who don’t have federally backed loans to cut through the bank’s red tape, avoid costly processing fees, and refinance even if their home is under water.
We Come Together: This past week Colorado Springs has been dealing with some of the worst forest fires in Colorado’s history. The President traveled to the state today to see the devastation and commend firefighters and other first responders, “We’ve got to make sure that we have each other’s backs. And that spirit is what you’re seeing in terms of volunteers, in terms of firefighters, in terms of government officials. Everybody is pulling together to try to deal with this situation.”
The decision was a 5-4 vote, with the court's four liberal justices joining with the chief justice.
Chief Justice John Roberts,Jr. agreed with the law's conservative critics who said Congress does not have the power to mandate the purchase of a private product such as health insurance.
Roberts explained the Affordable Care Act does not impose a true legal mandate on Americans. It simply requires those who do not have health insurance by 2014 to pay a tax penalty.
Roberts said:
The federal government does have the power to impose a tax on those without health insurance.

Consumers across the country are starting to hear the good news about their health insurance costs.
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, the new health care law, health insurers generally have to spend at least 80 percent of your premium dollars on health care and quality, not administrative overhead. This minimum percentage is called a medical loss ratio.
If your insurer doesn't meet or exceed this standard, they must rebate you the difference.
The rule encourages insurers to give you better value for your premium dollar and holds them accountable if they don’t.
Last week, insurers were required to report the refunds that will go to consumers and small businesses later this summer and we have already started to see the effects:
In Arizona, more than $36 million in refunds will go to both consumers and small businesses. One insurer in the state, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, alone will pay out an estimated $8.7 million to more than 77,000 individual policyholders, and another $3.2 million to more than 3,700 small businesses.
United Healthcare's Golden Rule Insurance will refund nearly $8.7 million to more than 30,000 additional Arizona policyholders.
