Mitt Romney ran for Governor of Massachusetts promising more jobs, decreased debt, and smaller government.

Here's what Massachusetts got instead:

• Jobs: 47th out of 50 states in job creation
• Taxes and fees: Increased more than $750 million per year
• Long-term debt: Increased more than $2.6 billion

Fact is, Romney economics didn't work then, and won't work now.

Beware of Republicans claiming they can create jobs. Republican job creation has lagged Democratic administration. Republicans have primarily focused on increasing worker productivity rather than creating new jobs. the graphic form truthful Politics makes this clear.

President Makes an Argument for Rebuilding America

Speaking to 3,000 attendees of the Building and Construction Trades Department conference in Washington, DC this morning, President Obama made an argument for investing in rebuilding America.

He told the crowd:

[As] a share of the economy, Europe invests more than twice what we do in infrastructure; China about four times as much. Are we going to sit back and let other countries build the newest airports and the fastest railroads and the most modern schools, at a time when we’ve got private construction companies all over the world -- or all over the country -- and millions of workers who are ready and willing to do that work right here in the United States of America?

The President used the conference as an opportunity to call on Congress to get construction workers back on the job:

As we speak, the House Republicans are refusing to pass a bipartisan bill that could guarantee work for millions of construction workers. Already passed the Senate. Ready to go, ready to put folks back to work. Used to be the most -- the easiest bill to pass in Washington used to be getting roads and bridges built, because it’s not like only Democrats are allowed to use these things. Everybody is permitted. Everybody needs them.

So this makes no sense. Congress needs to do the right thing. Pass this bill right away. It shouldn’t be that hard. It shouldn’t be that hard. Not everything should be subject to thinking about the next election instead of thinking about the next generation.

Roghtardia agrees. America needs to be rebuilt. We should abandon dysfunctional supply side taxation and spend our blood and treasure on this country, not foreign misadventures.

Buzz 60: The Obama budget picks jobs

President Obama releases his budget today and it is dead on arrival in the House. But then so are most election year budgets. Presidents use these as campaign documents and Obama is no different, choosing to run on investing in jobs rather than cutting the deficit. Republicans think that gives them a big opening.

Florida primary debate is boring

Mittens bored the Rightardia staff tonight during the Florida primary debate. Mittens is not a good speaker and he has trouble getting to the point.

He needs some zingers and one liners to come across as more nimble and forceful.

When Mittens was asked a questions about Florida sugar, he pivoted and started talking about jobs and the bad job Obama did in creating jobs in Florida.

Of course, it was Gov. Rick Scott who promised to create 700,000 new jobs above and beyond normal job growth.

Mittens needs to learn how to excite people, not bore them!

What is insourcing?

After decades of watching American companies take jobs to other countries, we're beginning to see entrepreneurs and manufactures make the decision to keep factories and production facilities here in the United States—or even bring jobs back to the U.S. from overseas.

How do we know this is happening?
For the past 22 months, the private sector has been hiring—to the tune of 3.2 million jobs. In 2011 alone, we saw private companies bring on almost 2 million new workers, more than in any year since 2005.

That's good news, even if we still have a lot of ground to make up. And if you dive into the numbers (like those compiled in this new White House report), you'll notice something interesting:

1. Business investment is up, growing by 18 percent since the end of 2009
2. We're exporting more goods and services to the rest of the world. As of October, American exports totaled $2 trillion -- an increase of almost 32 percent above the level in 2009
3. Perhaps most importantly, the manufacturing sector is recovering faster than the rest of the economy. 

Through the course of the past two years, the economy has added 334,000 manufacturing job, and that's the strongest two-year period of manufacturing growth since the 1990s.

Each of those facts is evidence of a growing trend of insourcing.

In last night's GOP debate: Mittens 9:11 p.m. - Romney said that Obama deserves to be blamed for the recession he inherited, but that he gets no credit for any improvement.

CBS News: Public wants Congress to focus on jobs

A new CBS News/New York Times survey finds that a plurality of Americans prefer the Congress focus on creating jobs instead of health care repeal.

Will the GOP Congress be able to create jobs? That will not be clear for a least two to three years.

Anything that happens in the next two years will be due to the Pelosi Congress and the Obama administration.

The GOP record on job creation has been dismal. GOP politicians have almost always focused on worker productivity over job creation.

In other words, "do more with less."

Workers Independent News: 20 Percent of Employers Expect to Create New Jobs in 2010

A new report from CareerBuilder says 20 percent of employers expect to create full-time jobs in 2010, that's an increase of six percent over 2009.

Sixty-one percent of those surveyed said they expect to keep jobs status quo over the next year. Part-time employment will also be up slightly as 11 percent of employers said they will create new positions.  

Thirty-seven percent of those surveyed expect to cut benefits and perks in the new year.
