CBS: Negative tone on Washington blamed primarily on GOP

Do  ya' think!

I can never remember Democrats behaving as bad as the GOP did the past two years. The racism, the gun metaphors, and people showing up at Democratic rallies armed. This isn't the America I grew up in.

Then the increase in death threats toward the president and attempted assassination of a Democratic congressperson.

Rand Paul: Racism Shrugged

Conservatives cannot seem to deal with past defeats. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a bare bones law that prevented Southern states from repressing Black voters. When Lyndon Johnson signed the act into law, most Dixiecrat democrats became Republicans.

This law was the right thing to do, but it had a bad effect on the Democratic Party and led to the 1970s Reagan 'revolution.'  Rand Paul appear to be another sappy conservative who is out of touch with US history.

Blogger and poet jailed in Egypt for exercising free speech

An Egyptian court has sentenced a blogger to four years' prison for insulting Islam and the President Hosni Mubarak.

Abdel Kareem Soliman's trial was the first time that a blogger had been prosecuted in Egypt.

He had used his web log to criticise the country's top Islamic institution, al-Azhar university and President Hosni Mubarak, whom he called a dictator. He received a four year sentence after a 5 minute trail.

A civil servant in Egypt has also been jailed for three years for insulting President Hosni Mubarak in a poem.

Moneer Said Hanna's family said he wrote satirical poetry for fun and never meant to hurt anyone.
