Gawker: Gay Barbarians Glitterbomb Marcus Bachmann’s Clinic

Stop taxpayer funds to Bachmann's anti-gay clinic: http://bit.ly/rkViU8

Today a horde of gay barbarians descended upon Michele and Marcus Bachmann's "pray away the gay" clinic and demanded that Marcus come out and discipline them for their "deviant" behavior.

Marcus Bachmann, who conducts "reparative therapy" at the clinic intended to convert homosexuals, has said that gays are "barbarians who need to be disciplined." The horde requested to speak directly with Bachmann and experience some "discipline" for themselves.

When Marcus was no where to be found, the barbarians glittered the empty waiting room and reception area while chanting, "You can't pray away the gay -- baby, I was born this way!"

The action was organized by the same young man who threw glitter on Newt Gingrich, starting a national trend in political protest of anti-LGBT sentiments from political candidates and campaigns.

"Michele and Marcus Bachmann think gay people are barbarians?" asked LGBT activist Nick Espinosa. "I think its clear to everyone who the real barbarians are, based on the Bachmanns' archaic views on LGBT equality."

A Controversial Past

Michele Bachmann has a long history of controversial anti-gay politics, and has compared the gay lifestyle to "bondage and slavery." In 2005, she was infamously caught lurking in the bushes during an LGBT rally. That same year, she attempted to file a police report when two constituents -- a lesbian and an ex-nun -- tried to talk with her about marriage equality following a townhall event. The police department refused to file a report, citing that she was in no danger.

Her anti-gay views have been a focal point of her career as a politician, but lately she has shied away from reporters' questions about her controversial comments and taxpayer-funded "reparative therapy" clinic. While Michele Bachmann has long railed against federal safety net programs like Medicaid, the Bachmann & Associates clinic has received over $137,000 in Medicaid funds and over $27,000 in other state and federal funds.

Last week an undercover investigation confirmed that the Bachman's clinic is, to this very day, providing discredited "ex-gay" reparative therapy.

For years the scientific and medical communities, including groups like the American Psychology Association, have dismissed "reparative therapy" (also known as "conversion therapy" or "ex-gay therapy") as dangerous and unethical.

"Its time for Michele Bachmann to stop running away and to take responsibility for her destructive clinic. She, of all people ,should not be abusing medicare and wasting taxpayer dollars to practice quack science that endangers her patients," Espinosa said.

Mario Piperni.com: DADT finally repealed

Rightardia was surprised that Obama didn't eliminate DADT with an executive order (EO). Of course, an EO can be rescinded by the next administration and an EO could have cooled the heels of Congress to change the law.

Our hats off to Mario Piperni.com and Rachel Maddow who tirelessly campaigned to get this law changed. This is important civil rights legislation.

New Armed Services recruitment poster

Rightrdia wonders why the DADT policy became a congressional issue. As the commander in chief Obama could have issued an execttuve order to change the policy.

Republicans want the Armed Services to vote on Gay Rights

William Bennett thinks Obama needs to talk to the commanders about gay and lesbians policy that will overturn the the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy that Bill Clinton supported. Pat Buchanan even suggested that Obama talk to junior officers and NCO's about to see the effect on morale. Both echoed this shouldn't be the first thing to do with the Armed Forces.

Middle Class Warrior laughed when he heard about it. He couldn't remember any time when the president of the Secretary of Defense took a poll on a social issue. The Armed Forces is a top down command and control organization. You are expected to follow orders. It is as simple as that unless you are given an unlawful order.

When Bush was president, many general officers were against invading Iraq. They were told to sit down and shut up. Many were forced into retirement. Bennett thinks some senior officers will retire over this issue. Sure, the evangelicals that have infiltrating the military for years probably will. These were the same people that wanted to Christianise Iraq and Afghanistan. Good riddance!

The president should publish an Executive Order stating that gays and lesbians will no longer be discriminated against.  This would require that DOD and service regulations be rewritten to protect homosexuals. Obama is the Commander in Chief. He should ignore the GOP whining and hypocrisy and just implement a human rights policy that is long overdue. This should have been done months ago. Obama has the power and should use it.

Vatican Official: Church Erred in Holding Kennedy Funeral

09/22/09

In a speech last Friday night to a gathering of Catholic conservatives at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, an American archbishop now heading the Vatican version of the church's Supreme Court said that politicians who support gay marriage or abortion rights cannot receive sacraments without publicly repenting their ways:

"It is not possible to be a practicing Catholic and to conduct oneself in this manner," said Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, whom the pope transferred to Rome in 2008 after Burke's checkered tenure as archbishop of St. Louis.

"Neither Holy Communion nor funeral rites should be administered to such politicians," Burke said. "To deny these is not a judgment of the soul, but a recognition of the scandal and its effects."

The remarks come from an account of the 50-minute speech by Deal Hudson, director of InsideCatholic.com, a conservative Web site that hosted the Sept. 18 annual gala for some 200 supporters.

Cardinal Sean O'Malley earlier this month rejected the denial of sacraments "in the strongest terms," as he wrote in a blog post:
"We will stop the practice of abortion by changing the law, and we will be successful in changing the law if we change people's hearts. We will not change hearts by turning away from people in their time of need and when they are experiencing grief and loss," O'Malley wrote.

"At times, even in the Church, zeal can lead people to issue harsh judgments and impute the worst motives to one another. These attitudes and practices do irreparable damage to the communion of the Church."
