Paul McCartney Olympics Payment: Singer Paid One Pound ($1.57) For Big Gig

A class act, Paul McCartney
LONDON -- "Don't spend it all in one place, Paul.
London Olympic organizers say former Beatle Paul McCartney and other star performers who took part in Friday's opening ceremony essentially donated their time – receiving a mere pound ($1.57) – for their performances."

Can you imagine US performers doing this in the US? Some probably would do it for thier country. Many would not.

Al Jazeera English: London's bout with 'Olympicitis'

This is an interesting article about the economics of the Olympics. Most of the Olympics have been profitable, but the Atlanta Olympic only made a $10 million profit .

The Salt Lake City olympics made a $101 million profit but received a $2 bullion federal grant courtesy of a Utah senator when the games started to flounder before Mittens took the helm.

The Greek Olympics lost billions.

Rightardia thinks the UK Olympics got off to a rousing start.

"Mitt the Twit" bombs in London

The Salt Lake City Olympics were hardly the best Olympic games in the United States. The Beijing games made Mitt's efforts in Utah look shabby.

Rightrdia expects the London Olympics to be spectacular.

David Cameron is a Tory or a conservative.

When an American conservative angers a UK conservative,

something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

The knight errant, Mittens, visited Londonium yesterday

Mittens said churlish things about the realm and the city's great Olympic games.

The right honorable mayor the Londinium sent the errant knight packing.

Boris Johnson, the Mayor proclaimed:

You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. In what world could you possibly beat President Obama!

Boris added:

We don't know what sort of wood this errant knight was cut form, but it wasn't presidential timber!

Mittens UK blunder creates international incident

At a huge pre-Olympics rally on Thursday, London's mayor, Boris Johnson, ridiculed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for his remarks that questioned the city's readiness for the games.
Johnson said to the 60,000-person crowd:
People are coming from around the world and they're seeing us. They are seeing the greatest city in the world!
Johnson then commented on Romney:
There are some people who are coming from around the world who don't yet know about all the preprations we've done to get London ready in the last seven years," I heard there's a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we're ready. Are we ready? Yes we are!

Guardian.co.uk: Mitt Romney's Olympic blunder stuns No 10 and hands gift to Obama

Mittens saw "disconcerting" signs about the preparations for the London Games

"Mitt Romney handed Barack Obama a priceless gift for the US presidential election campaign when the presumptive Republican nominee blundered on his first diplomatic outing by questioning whether London was capable of staging a successful Olympic Games.
In a move that astonished Downing Street, hours before it laid on a special reception for Romney at No 10 he told NBC there were "disconcerting" signs about the preparations for the Games.
One senior Whitehall source said: "What a total shocker. We are speechless."
David Cameron wasted no time in slapping down Romney hours after his remarks were broadcast. On a visit to the Olympic Park, the prime minister said: 'We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.'"
Rightardia has pointed on many occasions that the skills for a CEO and a political leader are different. In Mittens first diplomatic venture abroad, he manages to insult the US's biggest ally!
