Why Democrats should request an absentee ballot in Florida

Rick Scott recently signed a controversial overhaul of the election laws that is designed to improve GOP chances in Florida next year.

Critics lambasted Scott for endorsing “voter suppression” tactics aimed at the 2012 elections.

The League of Women Voters says it will have to suspend its voter-registration activities. The bill requires the league and other groups to register with the state and face fines of up to $1,000 for not submitting voting forms on time within 48 hours.

The bill also cuts early voting days from 15 to eight. Voters who have moved out of county will have to to cast provisional ballots which means there is a 50/50 chance that the vote will count.

The bill changes a 40 year policy that allowed voters to update their legal addresses when they voted.

The safest way for a Democrat  to vote in Florida is to request an absentee ballot. This must be done no later than 5 pm six days prior to an election!

League of American Voters: Heed Reagan's Warning on Obamacare

Our great president Ronald Reagan passed away in 2004, but he said something that still resonates today.

Reagan said: "One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.”

Yes, Reagan was hired as a spokesman by the health care industry to oppose Medicare. He believed Medicare would bring socialized medicine to all Americans, Reagan was wrong.

Boy does that resonate!
It sounds like President Reagan had the foresight to see the dangers of Obamacare.

Even more amazing is that Ronald Reagan spoke those words in 1961, before he ever ran for office.

Yes, as a health care industry shill. He was reading a script that someone wrote for him.

But Reagan's comments are not surprising if you understand liberalism.

Creating a national health care system has been a major priority for the left wing for over 50 years!

Indeed, because the system the right likes screws millions out of health care.

Time and again the Congress and the American people have rejected socialized medicine.

Care to provide some examples of socilized medicine the US has rejected? I cannot think of one example. HillaryCare was an HMO run by private enterprise.

Now Obama is pushing for a radical takeover of one-sixth of the U.S. economy.
But Obama is perhaps the most clever liberal ever.

He knows the American people would never go for a national system like they have in Britain or Canada.

Then why does the World Health Organisation ranks is the UK 18th in the world and Canada is the 30th while the US is only ranked 37th? Cuba, a third world country, is ranked 39th.

So his plan calls for several steps for Obamacare to become a reality.
Help us stop his plan

First, he lies and tells people "you keep your doctor, you keep your insurer."
At the same time he creates a "public option" -- allowing any business to move its employees into the public system.

That is the choice of the employer and the employee. Both will now have additional health care options.

He knows what you know this will create a mass exodus from private insurers to the cheaper, taxpayer subsidized public system.
Meanwhile, he plans to add 50 million new patients - including illegal aliens to the system.

So what. Americans pay twice as much for health care than the rest of the industrial world. Why would anyone want to maintain an inefficient gold plated system that pays $ millions to CEOs who are operating a monopoly.

Reagan understood that schemes like Obama's are not about providing quality health care.
It is about statism. It is about government control and dependence. It is a threat to your freedom.

Freedom? If I lose my job, I lose my health care. The way the system is right now, my health care is dependent upon being employed. I'd rather have my government provide health care because I know my government will be there for me. American private enterprise is flaky and unreliable. The entire free enterprise system blows up every 30 to 50 years.

As I write this, millions of Americans are going on vacation.
But Obama and his allies are preparing for a major assault on Congress next week.

You can count on it!

He has also called for a dramatic full session of Congress next week.
He is not calling this session to offer compromise.

What compromise has the right wing offered? Democratic control the House and the Senate. We don't need to compromise. We already tried to the bipartisan route. The GOP will have none of it.

He plans on using his national address to Congress as a giant pep rally to ram his radical program through Congress.

You betcha!

He wants the hoopla of a Congressional speech to overshadow his plummeting poll numbers, the mass protests we saw this summer at town halls across the nation and the growing anger toward his plan by Seniors.
We here at the League of American Voters can't go on vacation.

Actaully, his approaval rating has improved by 5 points in the past 4 days.

We can't compromise with Obama and the radical Democrats.
We need to fight back.

Good luck with that! The Astroturfers aren't dissuading any Democrats.

Right now, we are laying out our plans to continue rolling out our national TV campaign across the nation.
Our ad was created by Dick Morris, the Fox News analyst.
Dick says we are the number one group in the nation fighting Obamacare.

God luck. We will outspend you 3:1 like we did during the 2008 election.
So, we know many of our supporters are taking off this holiday — and we wish you a relaxing and fun time.

Did you have difficulty saying 'Labor Day?'

But we are asking that you strike a blow for freedom, to stand with the principles of Ronald Reagan -- and join and donate to League of American Voters.

Please support us and join with us.
As Reagan said: "If not us, who? If not now, when?"
Exactly. That is is the precise view that the Democrats have of public health care.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Bob Adams
Executive Director

League of American Voters scared of the ghost of Ted Kennedy

An Urgent Message From the League of American Voters

Ted Kennedy's Death Breathes New Life into Obama Care
What We Must Do . . .

Dear Fellow American:

This week, Ted Kennedy, the great liberal icon, has passed away.

But his dream of a socialistic health care system for all Americans is dangerously close to becoming a reality.

Though recent polls suggested Obama's radical plans of a "public option" and adding 50 million new patients to the government system were in serious trouble, Ted Kennedy's passing may have breathed new life into them.

As CNN reported this week: "Ironically, his death might bring about a change of tactics that would help reach the goal he was unable to achieve in life, one veteran political analyst says.

"'Kennedy's departure may in fact increase the chances that we get a more sweeping health care bill,' American Enterprise Institute analyst Norman Ornstein recently told CNN."

Scary!

Remember the Democrats still have big majorities in the House and the Senate.

We also remember from the Stimulus Bill that several Republicans betrayed their party to vote for the Democratic plan.

The message I have for you today is simple: we must stop Obama Care and we CANNOT let our guard down.

Just over two weeks ago the League of American Voters launched its national campaign to stop Obama Care.

In short order, our powerful ad featuring a respected medical doctor exposing the dangers of Obama Care have supporters of the Obama plan reeling.

People are waking up. You can see the ad and help us by Going Here Now

But we also are well aware that Ted Kennedy's death has evoked tremendous sympathy for his dream of a socialist health care take over.

The irony of Kennedy's death is that under Obama Care Kennedy would likely never have gotten the top-notch, expensive medical care he was afforded.

No doubt, one of the Obama oversight committees would have nixed the use of government resources for a person of Kennedy's age with a terminal disease like brain cancer.

We cannot allow for government to dictate to the type and quality of health care for us and our loved ones.

We cannot allow government to run the health care system like they do the Post Office!

We must continue this battle.

As I write this, the League has to firm up its TV ad buys for the next two weeks. We have already raised over $1.3 million. But we need to raise $5 million to kill off Obama Care.

We need your urgent help to make this happen — Go Here Now

Dick Morris says the League of American Voters is the "the number one group today fighting Obama Care, they deserve your support."

Dick is the League's chief strategist — and actually crafted our ads and national campaign.

We are having a tremendous effect.

Help us continue — Go Here Now.

Thank you for all of your help.

Sincerely,

Bob Adams
Executive Director

P.S. The New York Times reported that liberal groups backing Obama Care are outspending groups like ours 3 to 1. Yet we are still winning the war of public opinion. This means when the public finds out the truth, they are siding with us. We just need to keep doing our work and getting our ads out. Please help us make a difference — we can't afford to lose this because of Ted Kennedy — Go Here Now.
