Rick Scott declines Comedy Central drug test

Florida Governor Rick Scott was asking for $1 billion more in education funding while handling a $2 billion budget gap.

Reporter Aasif Mandvi with Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with John Stewart" asked him to pee in a cup while the governor was taking questions on the budget.

Scott's had demanded that drug tests be required for welfare recipients, but a judge threw out the law because few welfare recipients tested positive for drugs.

The reporter tried to get a plastic cup passed up to Scott, so he could "prove to Florida taxpayers you're not on drugs."

"I've done it plenty of times," the governor responded.

Comedy Central: The War on Xmas heats up

Jon Stewart explained:

Fox, you take for granted the ubiquity of christmas, but if there has been a war, Christmas is the aggressor nation," Stewart explained. "As long as our enemies view the term 'Happy Holidays' [...] as a subtextual, "F*ck you and your baby Jesus," there can be no peace.

Rightardia agrees. the holidays are for every one, not just Christians. Fox News is advocating an evangleical view of Xmas.

This is a great spoof on the emotion-laden contentless right wing propaganda that the GOP bankrolls. Stephan Colbert did, indeed, nail 'em.

LT Saloon: Rick sanchez has a history of being a loose canon

Apparently Rick Sanchez has suffered form faulty judgement over the years and has been been given many chances.

As Buddy Nevins in Miami put it:

He has had more chances than a cat has lives.  Other careers would have been squashed by his mistakes.

Jon Stewart offers protection to young human rights advocate who refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance

Well, last night Jon Stewart decided to do something about protoecting a young boy, Will Phillips, who refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance until their was liberty and justice for all Americans.

After praising this precocious 10-year-old, he decided the boy must be protected so he brought out professional wrestler Mick Foley to deliver a message.
"I was touched by young Will's plight so I'll tell you what I'm going to do: If I find out that anybody has hassled this young man or teased him or called him a wad of any sort, I and perhaps a few of my friends will come to his school and bring a world of pain. Teachers, faculty, students beware because the eyes of Mick Foley are upon you."

Betsy McCaughey's health care spin called "Hyperbolic... Dangerous" By Jon Stewart

Rightardia comment: See the first two video segments of McCaughey. See the additional videos on Comedy Central or the Huffington Post.

Betsy McCaughey is a famous liar who famously lied about the Clinton health care bill back in the 1990s. She has returned to lie just as famously in the aughts about the Obama health care bill.

Last night, she made an appearance on The Daily Show in a two(plus)-part interview with host Jon Stewart, which centered on her latest, greatest distortion: that the current health care reform package contains provisions that would enforce draconian consultations imposing conditions upon both patients in end-of-life circumstances and the doctors treating said patients.

This falsehood, first promulgated by McCaughey, later came to be colloquially referred to as "death panels." None of it was true.

McCaughey brought old tactics to the interview to snow the viewers.

Jon Stewart Is America's Most Trusted Newsperson

The Daily Show's Jon Stewart has been selected, in an online poll conducted by Time Magazine, as America's Most Trusted Newscaster, post-Cronkite.

Matched up against Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, Stewart prevailed with 44 percent of the vote. Now, if we're being honest, he probably managed to prevail as the winner precisely because he was the odd man out in a field of network news anchors.

Could this be a reaction to Fox News being the 'fair and balanced' network?
