WSJ: Walt Mossberg Likes MyFord Touch digital screens

WSJ's Walt Mossberg says the MyFord Touch is the best voice-activated in-car entertaintment system he has tested. There's a steep learning curve required to master its complicated interface to control music and temperature.

All of the Ford's dash options are now on a touch screen Liquid crystal Display (LCD).

WSJ's Mossberg: Toshiba Portege R705 is Thin, Powerful

WSJ's Personal Technology columnist Walt Mossberg tests Toshiba's Portege R705, a standard-sized laptop that's lighter and thinner than the traditional clamshell computer.

He says the pared-down laptop is surprisingly powerful for its price tag. Toshiba has been getting great reviews from technology journalists while some other companies like Dell have seen their laptop ratings fall.

Upgrading XP Pro to Windows 7 is a nightmare

The fastest way to upgrade an enterprise network would be to backup all the data files on a desktop PC to a file server. Then the enterprise version of Norton Ghost or an equivalent product could be used to re-image all of the PCs in the network at once. This could be done over the weekend. Data files would have to be restored to the desktops after Window's 7 is installed.

I suspect some enterprising programmer will find a way to migrate XP Pro to Windows 7 with a special utility. Check out the video that Ed Bott provided on the Walt Mosberg solution to upgrade Window XP Pro to Windows 7.
