Osama bin Laden: An intelligence success

Obama never really said he killed Osama bin Laden. But the GOP fell all over itself suggesting it was really Bush that got Osama which is ludicrous.

During the Bush administration we heard about the "intelligence failure" in Iraq which was actually a political failure.

During the Osama administration we have had intelligence successes. The death of Osama bin Laden was a huge intelligence success.

Pakistan had clearly given Osama Bin Laden 'safe harbor"

Osama Bin Laden had been living for six years in a middle class neighborhood on the outskirts of Islamabad for six years. Most of his neighbors were retired Pak military.

Did the Pak government know Osama  was in the country? As Sarah Palin would say, "You betcha.

Government officials were paid out to remain silent and protect the Al Qaeda leader.

The Pak Army is posturing on the issue because it embarrassed them.

A street demonstrated shouted, "We're not stupid, America."

The demonstrator didn't get it. America was not stupid and did not trust the Paks well enough to coordinate the attack on the Bin Laden with them.

If the US had coordinated with the Pak Army and it tipped off Osama, years of intelligence analysis would have gone up in smoke.

Generally, Rightaria advocates following international law as a counter to the cowboy antics of Republicans like GW Bush. However, we make an exception for Osama Bin Laden. We are glad he is gone.

RT: Satellite images and video of Osama compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan

Satellite pictures of Osama bin Laden's custom-made hideout in Abbottabad, Northern Pakistan, were released by The US Department of Defense, providing further detail of the compound where the al-Qaida leader had allegedly been hiding for years. 

This video shows imagery of the triangular walled fortress and the Pave Low helicopter that was shot down during the assault. The US helicopter has a temporary fence erected around it. 

The video also showed the Obama bedroom which appeared to be a panic room that had a large hole blown into the wall.

Correction: The helicopter surrounded by the temporary fence is actually a secret BlackHawk stealth helicopter that was covered with special non-radar reflective material and also had a baffle in the center of the rotors to prevent noise.

The question posed in this post is a red herring. This is why racism isn't needed in the White House.

It looks like the birthers are turning into deathers. These conspiracy conservatives want to see pictures of the corpse of Osama bin Laden to be convinced he is really dead.

Bin Laden's corpse was handled IAW Muslim traditions and his casket was dropped somewhere in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

Muslims are supposed to be buried with one day of death and it is likely the administration didn't want a burial site in Pakistan or the US because it would have become a terrorist shrine.

Sleep with the fishes, Osama! 

Meanwhile some wingers are trying to claim that Bush era water boarding was responsible for the apprehension of Bin Laden. GW Bush tried to link the Iraq invasion to Bin Laden but there was no connection with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden nor were there any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

The death of Bin Laden is a clear "mission accomplished." The US is spending $2 billion per week to $12 billion a month in Afghanistan and gaining little from the effort. It's time to cut out losses and put that money into the US economy.

Osama Bin Laden recruited 4,000 volunteers from his own country during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. He developed close relations with the most radical mujahadeen leaders. He also worked closely with the CIA, raising money from private Saudi citizens.
Urumqi, China is the capital of the Xinjiang territory. It is also the ciy that rioted and it is alleged that nearly 10,000 Uighur men disappeared during the riots. The Xingiang region is rich in oil which would explain why the Bush administration would want to destabilize the region.

A former FBI translator has claimed that the US was on ‘intimate’ terms with the Taliban and al-Qaida and used the militants to further certain goals in central Asia.

“With those groups, we had operations in Central Asia,” said former Turkish language translator Sibel Edmonds on Friday speaking on the radio program, the Mike Malloy Show. Sibel said the US maintained ‘intimate relations’ with bin Laden, and the Taliban, “all the way until that day of September 11.”

These ‘intimate relations’ included using bin Laden for ‘operations’ in Central Asia, including Xinjiang, China. These ‘operations’ involved using al-Qaida and the Taliban in the same manner “as we did during the Afghan and Soviet conflict,” that is, fighting ‘enemies’ via proxies.

The US used the gunmen ‘as we did during the Afghan and Soviet conflict’, she added, referring to its support for Afghan fighters during the 1979-89 Russian invasion.

Luke Ryland, a prolific investigator into the claims, said the tumultuous situation resulting from extremist operations would boost US arms sales in the region while forcing “oil and gas concessions”, Press TV reported.

The US government has twice barred Edmonds’ testimony on some controversial issues. “These are the confirmed cases,” she added stating her claims were based on ‘first-hand’ information. “There are a lot of things that our government doesn’t want us to know.”
