How to deal with Donald Trump

Trump has said plenty of really stupid things, many of which his GOP opponents have glossed over.

He may be easier to beat in a debate than a lot of people think.  His irreverence  may work in front of many Republicans, but Democrats may find Trump rude and boorish.

When the general election occurs assuming Trump is still standing, the Democrats should assure groups of blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Americans and Asians are prominently sitting together in the audience. This will freak Trump out who will be unable to remove them.

Protesters should also picket his arrival. Hope the Occupy Democrats show up in Cleveland and at the general election debates.

Fast forwarding to the general election, let's assume Hillary or Bernie is is debating Trump.

Let's assume Trump throws a grenade out Bill Clinton's past infidelities. The Democrats should respond about the nude and semi-nude photos of Melania Trump are on the Internet.

When veterans issues comes up, it should be noted that Trump mocked a disabled person at a rally, “Now, the poor guy — you've got to see this guy,,” mocking New York Times investigative reporter Serge Kovaleski. Likewise, how can his escapades with women as a young man be compared to service in Vietnam. Trump has also disparaged John McCain's military service and his internment as a POW while Trump get 5 deferments to stay out of the war.

When racism comes up, it should be noted it took him several days before he repudiated David Dukes endorsement. Can he prove that Mexicans are bringing drugs, bringing crime and rapists to the US?

When immigrants and “the wall” are mentioned, he needs to explain why H2-B Romanian workers are given preference over US workers in his county club in Palm Beach.

How can Muslim immigrants be prevented form entering the US. What is the legal basis for such an action?

When Trump mentions his business acumen, he should be asked to explain his four bankruptcies and why he was unable to get a gaming license in Nevada,

Also. why does Trump think is appropriate to punch a protester in the face or encourage people at his rallies to attack protesters? The US isn't WW2 fascist Germany

Why did he say, "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, okay?

Why did he suggest Hillary Clinton got schlonged in a close primary race with Obama?

Constant Sexual innuendos

Trump has attacked Carly Fiorina's appearance and implied Megyn Kelly was menstruating as a debate moderator. He has attacked celebrity females such as Bette Midler and Rosie O'Donnell as well.

Why the constant sexual innuendos?

Trump: You know, it really doesn't matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass." He also says Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband or America."

Mitt has become become a loose cannon in foreign affairs

Mittens is clearly out of his element and oafish when it comes to diplomacy and foreign relations.

His comments about Iran and Palestine have enraged the Islamic world.

Pavlovian Obeisance: Obama's foreign policy

Sen.Lindsey Graham is saying that Obama failed by pulling out of Iraq. If Obama doesn't pull the troops out, the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with Iraq will put our soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors in Iraq at risk because the Iraqi government will be able to prosecute them.

Obsama made a campaign promise to end the Iraq War. It's time to go.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R_SC) said this on Fox News:

I think in the last year he has made some very poor, dangerous foreign policy decisions at the strategic level. I would argue that Iraq and Afghanistan is being run out of Chicago -- not Washington -- in terms of decisions.

"What about the argument that in the last six months, bin Laden is gone, al-Awlaki is gone and now Gaddafi is gone?" Chris Wallace asked.

Obama reminds Rightardia of Richard Nixon, a president who had an excellent Secretary of State as Obama does. Nixon's domestic policy was lack luster, but his foreign policy was outstanding, thanks to no small measure to Henry Kissinger.

Clearly the US foreign policy was at is low ebb during the GW Bush administration. Condoleeza Rice indicates in her new book that she was constantly at odds with Dick Cheney and other neo-conservatives who wanted to make perceived enemies disappear much like a two-bit dictator would do.

Well, they called him Darth Cheney, didn't they?

Hillary Clinton: China not a model for Africa

Defending western style governance, Clinton Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during an interview on Zambia’s Africa 360 program:

Authoritarian regimes try to put everybody into the same mold: you’ve got to do this, that, and only it, because that’s what you’re told to do. I want to see an African renaissance that provides opportunities of all kinds for people, because I am confident you can compete with anybody anywhere.

Well, the US is hardly a model for Africa. The Africans have experience with Western-style colonial rule and reject it.

The two models for emerging third world nations are China and India.

China seems to be the bigger success story. Indeed,  China has a communist system in government, but it is very decentralized and has permitted free market reforms.

One of the TED experts on China, called the country a civilization-state rather than a nation-state. China is a 5,000 year old culture, now isn't it?

Is the US First World model relevant for Africa? Hardly.

Corruption is a big problem in Africa and such a system thrives under government controlled corporatism.

Egypt is a good example of what can happen when the government is hopelessly corrupt and controls all of the means of production..

The U.S. is losing an information war to alternative media outlets, including RT. That's the message from Hillary Clinton to Congress members, who are questioning the State Department's US $47 billion budget request for next year.

And as RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports, the U.S. Secretary of State says Washington needs to step up its propaganda efforts.

Rightardia doubts that the Voice of America is effective any more.  We have looked at many stories on Al Jazeera and most of it is is objective journalism, not propaganda.

Media Matters: Limbaugh insults Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton

Rightardia isn't sure what this could even be about. Clinton is not a politician any more. She is a government employee. BTW speaking of big asses, has Limbaugh looked in the mirror lately? Limbaugh is exaggerating what Clinton said about the classified McChrystal report. See the source for the transcript of the Clinton interview.

Israel is harassing American citizens in Palestine

22 September, 2009, 09:14

Rightardia comment: Israeli citizens are the only people in the world that are allowed to have dual citizenship in the US. If an American were to vote in any other foreign country he or she would be stripped of their citizenship.

This 'special relationship' is due to a peculiar Supreme Court decision. The US should tell Israel to rescind these rule or the US will change our laws on the dual citizenship. A phone call from Hillary Clinton to Benjamin Netanyahu should be able to resolve this problem.

Bettye Najjab is panicking. She’s got a deal on an airline ticket and was planning to fly back to America next month. But that was before she realized new Israeli regulations mean the stamp in her passport does not allow her to leave the West Bank and cross into Israel to get to the airport.

Bettye is an American citizen married to a Palestinian. She now regrets voting for Barack Obama, as she thinks he's short-changed the Palestinians.

“I wish Obama had done something immediately when his popularity was so very high. He could probably at that time have begun something and got away with it,” Bettye says.

At least 120,000 foreigners with ties to Palestinians are in the same situation. For twelve years, Anita, who is from Switzerland, was able to live with her Palestinian husband, Ghassan, in Ramallah by renewing her Israeli tourist visa every three months.

But the new regulations mean she too has been denied entry into Israel. And the only way she can continue living in the West Bank is to get a Palestinian ID – and lose the advantages of being a foreigner.

“There were lots of privileges I now don’t have. I was driving in an Israeli number plate car; I could travel through the Israeli airport – it was easier, it was a lot easier. Plus being treated not as a Palestinian is different,” Anita Abdullah told RT.

For her husband, staying in Ramallah brings a sense of home – which he has not been used to for decades.

“I was like a professional refugee for more than 40 years and it would be nice to go back to a place where you feel not quite home, but at least something. So here we don’t feel like strangers,” Gassan says.

But the Israeli government would prefer the Abdullahs to leave. And is intent on making life difficult for the Palestinians despite heavy criticism from America.

When Barack Obama was elected in January, most Palestinians were full of hope and expectation. But since then his popularity has declined with most of them, believing he has very little to offer that will be different to previous American administrations.

Palestinians see Obama as losing his grip on their demand for Israel to freeze settlement expansion.

“We will see that Obama is giving in to the Israeli tough position. He is not sticking to his position that Israel must totally freeze all settlement activities,” said Ziad Abu Zayyad, Former Palestinian Minister of Jerusalem Affairs.

So when the Israeli and Palestinian leaders meet, no one is holding their breath that Obama will achieve much.

“I don’t think the Americans are under an illusion that if the Israel-Palestinian conflict would be solved, many other tensions in the Middle East would be solved. But it gives the impression of greater stability. And images are sometimes important,” believes Professor Hillel Frish from the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and US President Barack Obama are holding talks on Tuesday in New York. This is the first time Mahmoud Abbas and Benjamin Netanyahu will have met since the Israeli elections in February.

Both leaders have warned not to expect too much – and people on the ground don’t.

Deal reached in UBS fraud case

The US government has reached a deal in principle with Switzerland in its attempt to get the names of thousands of Americans suspected of evading taxes by making deposits in UBS, the major Swiss bank.

A final settlement in the tax secrecy case is expected to be completed within a week, Stuart Gibson, a US Justice Department tax lawyer told a federal judge in Miami on Friday.

"The parties have reached an agreement in principle on the major issues ... There are some other issues that need to be resolved," Gibson told US district judge Alan Gold.

A trial in the case that was due to begin on Monday has been postponed until August 10, pending a full agreement between the parties.

Tax haven

The agreement came as Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, held talks with Micheline Calmy-Rey, Switzerland's foreign minister, on the UBS case in Washington.

"There's been an agreement in principle … Our governments have worked very hard on this to reach this point," Clinton said, without giving any further details of the deal.

Calmy-Rey said she was "very satisfied" with the deal.
The US case against UBS was launched in an attempt to get the names of about 52,000 US citizens suspected of storing a total of $15bn in assets in UBS accounts.

The Internal Revenue Service, the US tax office, had called on Gold to order UBS to give them a list of all American depositors so that it can collect due taxes.

The IRS would then turn the names over to the US justice department so that it could launch criminal proceedings against anyone suspected of tax evasion.

Swiss unease

But UBS and the Swiss government had said that revealing the names would have involved breaking Swiss law.

The Zurich-based bank admitted to the US justice department earlier this year that it had helped US citizens avoid paying domestic taxes by allowing them to make deposits.

UBS disclosed the names of about 300 US clients and paid a $780m penalty as part of a deferred prosecution agreement, but the IRS then filed a case to get the list of 52,000 other US citizens suspected of storing money at the bank.

Three UBS clients whose names were given to US authorities under the agreement with the US justice department have pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in federal court.

Russia Loses India as Second Largest Defense Customer

27.07.2009 Source: Pravda.Ru

Editor's Note:
This announcement has big implications for a big Inidan Air Force (IAF) aircraft contract for 126 new fighters. The article suggests the Indians will select the US F16 or F18 Super Hornet aircraft over the Russian MiG35.

The Russians are losing the Indian business because of quality control problems. However, the Euro-fighter Typhoon, Swedish Saab JAS 39 Gripen, and the French Dassault Rafale are also competing for the IAF $12 billion contract. An earlier unconfirmed report indicated the French have been eliminated from the competition.

From now on India will be buying American weapons. The USA and India came to such an agreement during Hillary Clinton’s visit to Delhi on July 20. India has been using Russian and Soviet weapons for 50 years.

The relations between Russia and India, including those in the field of military and technical cooperation, have been worsening recently. India turned its attention to other partners and entered into transactions with Israel, France and other manufacturers of military hardware.
Now the USA, Russia’s major competitor in this sphere, completed this list. Russian military analysts say that the principal reason for India’s decision to develop defense cooperation with the USA lies in Russia’s numerous violations in execution of contract terms with India. India was outraged when Russia delayed the modernization of the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier, as Russia did previously with the delivery of warships and submarines.

A new scandal arose several days before Clinton’s visit to Delhi. It proved that Russia had sold India defective air-to-air rockets.

Up to 50 percent of the rockets were reportedly defective. Therefore, the question of whether India continues to buy weapons from Russia remains open after the nation signed the defense cooperation agreement with the United States.

India will continue buying Russian tanks. However, it is going to co-operate with other suppliers in the sphere of operational aircraft and navy. Thus, Russia will lose its key position on the Indian arms market. For the time being, India is Russia’s second biggest customer.

The Russian defense complex is now unable to provide the production that would fully satisfy foreign customers, due to the loss of qualified personnel.

Another negative moment is that Russia has been purchasing navigation facilities, optical devices and avionics abroad for several years. The Russian military production is virtually ruined and military engineers have invented nothing new.

No wonder, that Russia has given way to its foreign competitors. China might be the next partner to pass on Russian weapons.

Delhi has taken the decision at the time when the Indian government assigned $30 billion on the modernization of its armed forces.

Two American military contractors - Lockheed Martin and Boeing are competing for the Indian orders. The transaction may prove to be the biggest deal in the sphere of arms trade.

American Jews beginning to favor two-state solution

13 July, 2009, 10:17

Editor's Note: This is good news, but I wonder if Obama will have much luck with Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu. Bibi hold far right values and considered the moderate PLO to be terrorists before Hamas took control of the Palestinian government. Bibi's suggestion that Palestine disarm seems to be unrealistic. The Israelis also need to pay reparations for the homes and bluenesses they took form the Palestinians after World War 2.

I suspect the US would have to cut off military and economic aid to Israel before there will be peace between Israel and Palestine.

Barack Obama’s message of change could have consequences for US-Israeli relations. Polls show that after years of unconditional support, Americans now think it is time to get tough with Israel over the peace process.

Barack Obama says he wants to bring peace to the Middle East, much like every other US president before him since Harry Truman.

Opinions have begun to differ over the issue and American Jews are no longer thinking Israel should have a blank check.

Rabbi Mark Gopin is the director of the Center on Conflict Resolution between Israelis and Palestinians at George Mason University. He says that the change in American Jews’ attitude toward Israel makes the prospect of peace more realistic now than ever before.

“Most American Jews agree with putting pressure equally on both Israelis and Palestinians. What is surprising is that now there is a simple majority that wants pressure just on Israel. It’s become more and more clear that a majority of American Jews want a two-state solution,” Rabbi Marc Gopin says.

Even Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s Chief of Staff and a man who has deep connections to Israel, does not unconditionally support the Middle Eastern state.

“What we had for many years in the White House and the Congress was a lobby that made it so difficult for anyone to say what they really thought. Rahm Emanuel, Hillary Clinton – all of these people who always said and did all the right things in Congress didn’t necessarily agree with what they were forced to commit to,” Rabbi Marc Gopin says.

Barack Obama claims to take a unique approach in dealing with this issue. Armed not with weapons, but with a congressional democratic majority and new US attitudes toward the Middle East, he may be able to go where no American president has gone before.

“I think this is the last shot we have at doing it. It’s going to be a difficult job, but I can’t imagine anyone better to do it than Barack Obama. He’s very careful and very cautious, but he is going to continue to ratchet up the pressure,” says James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute.

The American Jewish population voted overwhelmingly to put Barack Obama in the White House, and 50% of Americans now think that the Israeli issue needs to be dealt with effectively.

With a new generation of American Jews striving to give peace a chance, the relationship between the US and Israel may be changing forever – but whether or not it will actually bring peace to the Middle East is an entirely different question.
