The Tea Party had been gunnning for Gabrielle Giffords

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' barely defeated her Republican opponent in the 2010 house race. Her GOP opponent,  Jesse Kelly, held a campaign event in which he invited supporters to shoot a machine gun.

Kelly's ad read:

Sarah Palin: "Don't Retreat, Instead-RELOAD!'"

Rightardia thinks the political career of Sarah Palin is over. Her 'pro-gun" comments became instantly political incorrect after the Giffords' assassination attempt.

Palin now denies that she meant the graphic over the SarahPac districts to look like gun sights. However, this is part of the hunting and pro-NRA lingo that Palin uses.

A person named Kirsten Sherk wrote:

A child was killed today by someone who can't tell the difference between 'inspiring' speech and a call to arms.

Rightardia believes the person who attacked Representative Giffords is mentally ill based upon his ramblings on YouTube and Facebook.

Did the vitriolic right wing rhetoric in Arizona and across the country encourage the attack? This is likely.

Fox news is falling all over itself on the Giffords' story. Privately they are probably saying we never thought anybody would get hurt over our "call to
arms " talk.

Better security is needed at town hall meetings

Democrats need to take control of the town hall meetings. In view of the gun an Astroturfer left behind at Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' town hall meeting, all attendees should be screened by a walk through metal detector. If the Democrats don't institute security procedures, an Astroturfer is going to hurt or kill someone. There have been plenty of warnings. 

Entrance should be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis and signs  not be allowed into the meeting. Security cameras should be conspicuously positioned around the event. Town hall meetings could also be remotely broadcast to local auditoriums.

An area for demonstrators should be set up at least 100 feet away from the main event.

People who causes an  alert when entering the facility should be manually checked with a security wand.

Armed perimeter police officers should be on hand in case the crowd becomes unruly. They should have the proper control equipment such as Tazers and vehicles needed to arrest and haul Astroturfers away.

In addition to the increased security, meeting ground rules will be passed out to attendees, and the moderator will state the rules at the beginning of the meeting.

If crowd members become disruptive or rude, they should be asked to leave or be forcibly removed. After a few 'don't taze me bros,' the Astroturfers, ditto heads and wing nuts will get the idea.

Astroturfer leaves gun behind at Gabrielle Giffords' town hall meeting

Town hall Astroturfers have caiused some outbreaks of violence. Unions participating in town halls have received death threats. At an event held by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) her aides had to call the police after one attendee dropped a gun.

"Yelling and screaming is counter-productive," she told the Sierra Vista Herald at a Congress on Your Corner event last week. There, one visitor dropped a gun at the meet n' greet held in a Douglas Safeway, her staff says.

Aides called police to the event who were concerned for her safety. "We have never felt the need before to notify law enforcement when we hold these events," said spokesman C.J. Karamargin.

One of the callers to the Service Employees International Union said, "I suggest you tell your people to calm down, act like American citizens, and stop trying to repress people's First Amendment rights... That, or you all are gonna come up against the Second Amendment."
