Gore has received a number of awards including the Nobel Peace Prize (joint award with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) (2007), a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album (2009) for his book An Inconvenient Truth, ^] a Primetime Emmy Award for Current TV (2007), and a Webby Award (2005).

According to Leslie Budd, author of E-economy: Rhetoric or Business Reality, this economic success was due, in part, to Gore's continued role as an Atari Democrat. He  promoted the development of information technology, which led to the dot-com boom  in1995-2001).

Clinton and Gore entered office planning to finance research that would "flood the economy with innovative goods and services, lifting the general level of prosperity and strengthening American industry."

Their overall goal was to fund the development of, "robotics, smart roads, biotechnology, machine tools, magnetic-levitation trains, fiber-optic communications and national computer networks. to include a raft of basic technologies like digital imaging and data storage."

Critics claimed that the initiatives would "backfire, bloating Congressional pork and creating whole new categories of Federal waste."

It looks like the Gore vision was a lot better than the myopia of his conservative critics who mocked his Internet accomplishments.

No prominent Republican mentions 'the Invisible Man' in public

Rightardia believes that many of the attacks on Obama are, in fact, racist, but many other Republicans look at the right wing attacks as payback for the lack of respect that Democrats had for George W. Bush.

In the Armed Services, it is pointed out that senior officers and civilians have a great deal of authority, but respect must be earned. There are many reasons to respect Obama; he is highly intelligent, he has a sense of humor, has humility and a sense of fair play. Many of these qualities were lacking in President Bush.

It is likely that if Al Gore had been elected president isn 2000 that the US would not be reeling from a financial crises.  The invasion of Iraq was also a major blunder that has already cost the US taxpayer more than US $800 billion.

The Onion sums up the Bush Presidency well:

Bush, who served as president of the United States from 2001 to 2009, had reportedly been on the verge of nodding off during Monday afternoon's porch-sitting, and appeared pleasantly taken aback by the unexpected remembrance of his years in the White House. 

"I was president," murmured Bush, his mind returning again and again to the thought of "eight years" as he emitted a series of short, guttural laughs that reportedly grew in volume the longer he lingered on his time in office. "That was what I did for a living. Me. George W. Bush. For almost a decade."

"I did that," Bush added. "As my job."
Continued Bush, "I'll be damned if I wasn't the presidnet.'


At times, the man who authorized two separate wars wondered if his presidency wasn't just a dream.

Bill Clinton was quoted saying we must 'slow down US economy' to stop global warming.	It’s a moment taken out of context in such a way as to change the meaning of the sentence. Consider what Clinton actually said:  “And maybe America, and Europe, and Japan, and Canada — the rich counties — would say, ‘OK, we just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.’ We could do that. But if we did that, you know as well as I do, China and India and Indonesia and Vietnam and Mexico and Brazil and the Ukraine, and all the other countries will never agree to stay poor to save the planet for our grandchildren. The only way we can do this is if we get back in the world’s fight against global warming and prove it is good economics that we will create more jobs to build a sustainable economy that saves the planet for our children and grandchildren. The Bush administration scandal involving the firing of U.S. prosecuting attorneys for political reasons is a non-story because Bill Clinton also replaced US attorneys upon assuming office.	Clinton did fire all 93 US attorneys upon assuming office. So did Bush 41 and Ronald Reagan. Previous U.S. attorney selections were subject to Senate confirmation. Bush's are not thanks to a loophole secretly inserted into the PATRIOT Act. Also, previous presidents bumped all their old attorneys when they first took office, not in the middle of their second term when the opposition party was preparing investigations and serving subpoenas into evidence of corruption as Bush had.

Dick Cheney given international award

(Ottawa) Dick Cheney received an international award today in Ottawa where he was named the 'Ice Holer of the Year” by the International Ice Hole Fishermen's Federation (IIHFF). Republicans are comparing it to the Nobel that al Gore won for his environmental work.

Arthur Snowsmith, the president of the IIHFF said his group could not think of a more deserving ice holer. Dick Cheney has been a champion of the ice hole industry for many years and developed 'enhanced interrogation techniques” to locate fish for other ice holers like himself.

If an ice holer did not catch enough fish, Cheney would use enhanced techniques to locate more fish. Snowsmith denied that any fish were tortured during the enhanced interrogation techniques. He also pointed out that ice fish love to be waterboarded. “The need water to breathe,” said Snowsmith, “unlike wimpy humans who think they are going to die.

During the event local Sheriff Bob Baton has scheduled a meeting to talk over changes to his department's ice fishing policy with those who would be affected the most.

The April 17 meeting is in response to a major ice rescue Feb. 7 near the Lake Erie shoreline. Over 130 fishermen were pulled off the cracked surface by local and international rescue teams after warm air whisked over the great lake and melted the ice.

The sheriff didn't hold back his feelings. He spouted off on local and national news outlets saying some of the fisherman should have been arrested for stupidity including Dick Cheney. He said they were negligent and should not have been on the ice due to rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.

"I'm for ice fishing, that's not the point, if there were a section of law about stupidity, they all should be arrested for that," Sheriff Baton was quoted.

"I want to hear what the fisherman have to say,” said Baton. "I had my say. I'm not changing my feelings about what happened on Lake Erie, not at all. But since I'm at the Ice Holer Convention, they can come in and talk to me right now.

Baton concluded by saying, “I hope that Dick Cheney doesn't shoot me in the face!”
