The right wing in the US has become increasingly Christo-fascist. Preachers talk about Christian prosperity, a concept that is not evident in the Bible but is supportive of corporations and an affluent life style in conflict with the teachings of Jesus.
This theology is appealing to poorer Americans.
Mainstream evangelicalism has consistently rejected prosperity theology. Prosperity ministries have frequently come into conflict with other Christian groups, including those within the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements.
Critics argue that prosperity theology has little in common with traditional Christian theology.
