The last PEW (2/8-2/12/2012) poll that matched Obama v. Santorum showed the president with an 8 point advantage. The last Fox poll showed the president with a 12 point advantage over Simple Rick.
A quote from Father Frothy Santorum surfaced that indicated he didn't believe protestants were Christians.
Today he suggested that Obama agenda is not based on the Bible. Santorum said that White House policies were motivated by a different theology.Santorum added that Obama's agenda is:
. . . not about you. It's not about your quality of life. It's not about your jobs. It's about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology,
Of course, government policy is not supposed to be based on any theology and the president is not a clergy man.
The White House should call Santorum out and ask him to explain his comments. He needs to explain how he thinks theology should affect government policies.
Santorum apparently sees the president as having some sort of ecclesiastical function. There is no basis for that view in the US Constitution.
Of course, Santorum's comments are intentionally abstract making a presidential counter attack even more difficult.
President Obama is clever. It will be interesting to see how he parries with the Frothy One.
