What happened to "hope and change?"

Mario Piperni.com posted a quote from Paul Krugman:

For the deal itself, given the available information, is a disaster, and not just for President Obama and his party. It will damage an already depressed economy; it will probably make America’s long-run deficit problem worse, not better; and most important, by demonstrating that raw extortion works and carries no political cost, it will take America a long way down the road to banana-republic status.

It's clear that the change Democratic progressives had hoped for is gone.

On Gallup Obama has a  43 per cent approval rating and Intrade: a 55.9 per cent chance of re-election and that, too, has been declining in the past month.

Obama squandered his political capital on a half-baked health care program that provided limited benefit to the Democratic party or to Middle Class America.

It's over. The fat lady has sung and it's not music to Rightardia's ears.
