British archaeologists say a collection of ancient books discovered in Jordan could be the earliest Christian writings ever uncovered.

If these books are confirmed to be authentic,  this would be a major discovery because the earliest Christian writings were believed to be written at least 50 to 75 years after Christ died. Most of the bible was written about 100 years or more after the death of Jesus.

Many early Christian writings were also omitted form the bible like the "The Shepherd of Hermas" and "The Gospel of Mary."
