Mike Huckabee was on TV last night and suggested his fun life would change if he ran for president, Haley Barbour is wavering and now John Thune announced he won't run.
The country club Republicans have been working Sarah Palin over and she is running dead last in the last poll Rightardia saw. A 'tell-all" book one of her aides is writing should put a stake through Palin's political career.
This leaves one country club Republican standing, Mitt Romney. Rightardia suspects that Bishop Mitt with his magick Mormon underwear will be the GOP sacrificial lamb.
Of course, the GOP could let Palin run and fall flat on her face.
Of course, a huge Obama victory over Palin would also bring about the quick decline of the Tea party.
Why aren't Republican politicians going more aggressively after the presidency?
The GOP could let Palin run and fall flat on her face. We suspect the GOP doesn't wan to do that because the backlash could put more Democrats into state and national offices. A more centrist candidate like Mitt is less likely to bring Democrats out to vote.
First, as long as the GOP holds one of the US legislative branches, they can stymie the president.
Second, the GOP has never been known for pulling a country out of a crises.
The GOP will wait until Obama gets the job done and try to take the presidency back in 2016 by returning the nation to its conservative values.
GW Bush with the help of the Supreme Court was able to pull his off after 8 years of Democratic prosperity. The Tea party civil war in the GOP will also have died down by then.
John Thune's statement:
For months now, my wife Kimberley and I have received encouragement from family, friends, colleagues, and supporters from across South Dakota and the country to run for the presidency of the United States. We have appreciated hearing their concerns about where the country is headed and their hopes for a new direction.
During this time, Kimberley and I and our two daughters have given a great deal of thought to how we might best serve South Dakota and our nation. That process has involved lots of prayer.
Along the way, we have been reminded of the importance of being in the arena, of being in the fight. And make no mistake that during this period of fiscal crisis and economic uncertainty there is a fight for the future direction of America.
There is a battle to be waged over what kind of country we are going to leave our children and grandchildren and that battle is happening now in Washington, not two years from now. So at this time, I feel that I am best positioned to fight for America's future here in the trenches of the United States Senate.

I want to thank those who have encouraged us and prayed for us during the past several months. We are forever grateful for all the support.
