One letter makes all the difference in the world. Illinois Green Party gubernatorial candidate Rich Whitney’s name is misspelled as “Rich Whitey” on 4200 electronic-voting machines in Chicago. To make matters even worse, half of the 23 wards that have the misspelling are in predominantly African-American areas.
Whitney wants a full investigation and states:
I don’t want to be identified as ‘Whitey’…it either has to be some sort of gross negligence or there was an intentional act. We deserve an explanation as to why, in a race as important as this, someone couldn’t have proof-read the ballot.
