US band may participate in Victory Day parade on Red Square

Over 1,500 musicians from the Consolidated Orchestral Regiment of Russia’s Defense Ministry have started rehearsals for the Victory Parade to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War 2.

Joining Russian musicians on Red Square will be their colleagues from the Allied nations, among them Britain’s Royal Philharmonic orchestra representing one of the leading members of the anti-Hitler Coalition taking part in Victory Day parade. A US band has also been invited.

The may 9 holiday is the biggest in Russia. More than 28 million Russians died during the Great Patriotic War.

The heads of state and government from 45 countries and representatives of many international organizations will be taking part in V-Day celebrations in Moscow. Photo: Moscow Military District Orchestra rehearsing for Victory Day parade
