Dozens of helicopters took to the air and Russia’s elite aerobatic groups Russkiye Vityazi (Knights)and Strizhi (Swifts) flew in a diamond formation during a large-scale Air Force rehearsal of the May 9 Victory Day parade at the Kubinka Air Force base near Moscow.
On May 9, Russkiye Vityazi and Strizhi will fly in a nine-aircraft diamond, a signature formation of the two aerobatic groups in which the distance between fighter jets does not exceed one meter.
Other aerobatic maneuvers will not be shown over safety concerns. A total of 125 aircraft will take part in the Victory Day Parade on Red Square in Moscow.
