Many Americans do not know that blacks in the US voted Republican until the Great Depression. Black Americans were grateful to Abraham Lincoln for the end of the institution of slavery. Unfortunately the GOP neglected blacks in the build up to the Great Depression. Democrats led by FDR helped black families during the depression and World War 2. Blacks started voting Democratic and have stayed with the oldest American political party since then.
What did Steele offer blacks during the Young Republican Convention in Indianapolis? All I heard was free enterprise and family values. We have all heard that 'song and dance' before, haven't we?
