On 30 January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor. On 23 March 1933, his government was given dictatorial powers through the Enabling Act.
Hitler had obtained the votes of the Centre Party, led by Prelate Ludwig Kaas, by issuing oral guarantees of the party's continued existence and the autonomy of the Church and her educational institutions.
He also promised good relations with the Holy See, which some interpret as a hint to a future concordat or treaty between a church and a state.
Thus, on April 8, Hitler sent his vice chancellor, a Catholic nobleman and former member of the Centre Party, to Rome.
Hitler intended to deal a decisive blow against both his political opponents, as well as potential competitors, while simultaneously gaining and cementing international prestige amongst Catholic nations.
Many conservatives have suggested Hitler was an atheist, but Hitler had been raised Roman Catholic. Why would an atheist negotiate with the Vatican? Some historians believe that Hitler wanted to establish a new religion in Germany that had elements of Catholicism and his own personal beliefs about he occult.

The Vatican was unable to include Catholic clergy and organisations in politics. Its role in politics was solely to the religious and charitable field.
The Nazis slowly eliminated the Catholic Centre Party. One of Hitler's key conditions for agreeing to the concordat, in violation of earlier promises, had been the dissolution of the Centre Party.

As Germany’s planned to invade the the Soviet Union during the Second World War, the Nazis found became obsessed with a dog they thought insulted the Fuhrer by raising his paw in a fascist salute.
The Nazi government planned to prosecute the dog’s owner and even considered destroying the owner’s business.
The BBC reports that researchers at the German Foreign Office have uncovered a number of documents relating to Jackie, a Hurensohn hound. The dog owned by a Finn named Tor Borg.
Borg’s wife had nicknamed Jackie " Hitler" because it would raise its paw in a Nazi salute.
Apparently many Hurensohn dogs are known for this trick. The breed is therefore very popular with neo-fascists and corporate CEOs.
Mr. Borg was quizzed by government officials. He denied any insult to the Third Reich.
The matter was also discussed by the Foreign Office, the Economy Ministry, the Chancellery of the Nazi government and German diplomats, according to the BBC.
In January 1941, German Vice Consul in Helsinki wrote that “a witness, who does not want to be named, said he saw and heard how Borg’s dog reacted to the command ‘Hitler’ by raising its paw.”
Eventually, the German Tagezeitung newspaper which first reported the matter, officials indicated the Nazis wanted to let the “scandal” rest.
LONDON--New DNA tests have revealed that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler possibly had Jewish as well as African ancestors
The Daily Express on Tuesday reported that samples taken from Hitler's relatives link him to both the Jewish community and people from North Africa.
Jean-Paul Mulders, a journalist, was able to investigate Hitler's DNA after he managed to lay his hands on a serviette dropped by the dictator's great-nephew Alexander Stuart-Houston who lives in New York. A serviette is a small square of cloth or paper used while eating to protect the clothes, wipe the mouth and hand.
He got a second sample from an Austrian cousin of Hitler, a farmer known as Norbert H.
The DNA tests threw up a startling result.
It revealed a form of the Y-chromosome that is rare in Germany and the rest of Western Europe, but common among Jewish and North African groups.
Experts now think that Hitler had migrant relatives who settled in his homeland.
Mulders said both the test samples had a form of genetic material known as Haplopgroup E1b1b, proving an "irrefutable link" to the Nazi leader.
"It is most commonly found in the Berbers of Morocco, in Algeria, Libya and Tunisia, as well as among Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. One can from this postulate that Hitler was related to people whom he despised," the Belgian journalist was quoted as saying.
Ronny Decorte, a genetic specialist in Belgium, said: "Hitler would not have been pleased about this.
"Race and blood was central in the world of the Nazis. Hitler's concern over his descent was not unjustified. He was apparently not 'pure' or 'Aryan'."
After he served as a mouthpiece for every possible grievance and complaint, Hitler is now leaving YouTube, and ranting about it.
The German film Der Untergang (Downfall), in which Adolf Hitler is seen going off on a tirade against betrayal, has lent itself to hundreds of online parodies where Hitler expresses severe anger over anything from parking spaces to the iPad.
However the company that made the 2004 movie, Constantin Films, has set out to put a stop to the countless parodies and have demanded that YouTube remove the films, citing copyright infringement.

Prior to World War 2, Adolf Hitler wanted to consoldiate all German speaking area of Europe into Germany as part of his lebensraum (living space) policy. British PM Neville chamberlain agreed to let Hitler annex the German speaking Sudentanland form Czechoslovakia with the hopes the German aggression would cease.

What many Americans don't know is that the GOP didn't want the US to enter the war and had an isolationist 'America First' policy. The US was forced into the war when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and Hitler declared war on the US four days later. There was also an American Nazi movement at the time called the Bund which has many similarities to the Tea Party movement.
Many American believe that Chamberlain was some sort of weak kneed liberal who appeased Hitler. In fact, Chamberlain was a conservative.

A letter from Stalin will go under the hammer on Friday at Sotheby's. The document appears to be evidence of Russia’s plans to attack Germany in World War Two.
The letter signed by Joseph Stalin and Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov – dated January 8, 1940 – asks Mongolian leader Choi Balsan for almost 40,000 tons of wool for troop clothing.
For his part, Stalin promised to take all the efforts necessary to satisfy assistance requests from Mongolia.
In a startling conclusion, the auction house brochure describes the letter as proof that the Soviet Union planned to invade Germany in harsh winter conditions – something which has been undiscovered by historians before.
The letter is estimated as being worth between $15,000 and $25,000.
Also for sale in New York are Leon Trotsky's memoirs dated 1930 – and a copy of Nikolay Gogol's book “Dead Souls” illustrated by famed Russian-French painter Marc Chagall.

Moscow, Russia (CNN) -- The remains of Adolf Hitler were
burned in 1970 by Soviet KGB agents and thrown into a river in Germany
on direct orders from the spy agency's chief, a top Russian security
official said this week.
The head archivist of Russia's Federal
Security Service (FSB) -- the successor to the former Soviet Union's
KGB -- confirmed for the first time the chain of events that led to the
disposal of Hitler's body, and who ordered the operation, in an
exclusive interview with Russia's Interfax news agency.
Gen.
Vasily Khristoforov told Interfax in an interview published Monday that
previously secret documents show that KGB chief Yuri Andropov, with
prior consent from the Soviet Communist Party leadership, ordered a top
secret operation to destroy the remains of Hitler, his wife Eva Braun,
Nazi Germany's propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels; and Goebbels' entire
family.
Khristoforov said according to the documents, Andropov's
decision to destroy the remains of the Nazi leaders and their family
members was motivated by the fears of the KGB and Soviet Communist
Party leadership that Hitler's burial site could become a place of
worship for supporters of fascist ideas.
Neither the FSB nor Khristoforov were immediately available to comment on the secret documents, when asked by CNN.
The operation, code-named "The Archives," was carried out by a group of special KGB
agents in Magdeburg, East Germany, where the bodies had been secretly
buried February 21, 1946, on the territory of a Soviet military
facility, Khristoforov said.
Two protocols were compiled after
the operation was carried out on April 4, 1970, the general said. The
first documented the opening of a grave that contained the remains of
the Nazi leaders and their family members, and the other one detailed
their physical destruction.
"The remains were burnt on a bonfire
outside the town of Shoenebeck, 11 kilometers away from Magdeburg, then
ground into ashes, collected and thrown into the Biederitz River," the
second document reads, according to Khristoforov.
The bodies of Hitler,
Braun and the Goebbels family had been discovered by the Soviet Army in
May 1945. The bodies of Goebbels and his wife were found May 2 in the
garden of Nazi Germany's Reich Chancellery. The bodies of the couple's
children were recovered the next day, and the corpses of Hitler and
Braun were discovered May 5 in a crater from an artillery shell outside
his bunker in Berlin.
According to historical accounts, Hitler's
death was a combination of a suicide by gunshot and cyanide poisoning
on April 30, 1945, when the Soviet Army entered the Nazi Germany
capital.
In early June of that year, the Soviets buried the
bodies in a forest near the town of Rathenau, Germany. Eight months
later, they secretly re-buried the remains in the Soviet Army's
garrison in Magdeburg.
But in March 1970, the Soviets decided to abandon the garrison and pass it over to the East German civilian authorities.
As
long as the burial place of the Nazi leaders was in the territory of a
Soviet garrison, it could be kept secret and barred from strangers. But
following relocation of the Soviet Army unit, the decision was made not
to rebury Hitler's remains but to burn them, Khristoforov explained,
calling it "perhaps a reasonable decision" given the circumstances.
Khristoforov
said that all that remains of Hitler's corpse are fragments of his
jawbone and skull, items that are kept in Russia.
Adolf Hitler's hatred of Jews may stem from his errant belief that his mother was poisoned to death by a Jewish doctor, the author of a new book about the Nazi dictator claims.
In "November 9: How World War One Led To The Holocaust," author Joachim Riecker writes that the death of his mother, Klara, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, left an indelible mark on the then-18-year-old Adolf.
Klara's doctor, Eduard Bloch, had administered iodoform, which was the standard treatment for breast cancer at the time. She would die from the treatment in 1907, when she was just 47 years old.
"Hitler never forgave the Jewish doctor," Riecker told the British newspaper The Telegraph. "In conversations with aides such as Josef Goebbels he referred to the Jews as being like TB and himself as a 'healer' who had to stamp it, and consequently them, out."
Rightardia comment: This is the first time we have seen this information on Hitler. Hitler blamed the loss of World War 1 on the Jews because German law restricted Jews to the cities. Many Jews were involved in labor strikes during World War 1 and Hitler believed these strikes weakened the German War effort.
Most historians suggest the new tanks and aircraft technology of the Allies that were decisively used in 1918 broke the back of the German Army making trench warfare obsolete.
VILNIUS, Lithuania - The parliamentary assembly of the Organization of Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Europe passed a resolution equating the roles of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in starting World War II.
Only eight delegates in the 385-member assembly voted against the resolution.
The non-binding resolution calls for making Aug. 23 a day of remembrance for victims of Stalinism and Nazism. That is the day in 1939 that Germany and the Soviet Union signed a pact carving up Eastern Europe between them. Germany invaded Poland a week later starting WWII.
Russia's delegates were angered by the resolution and immediately left the assembly once it passed.
“Those who place Nazism and Stalinism on the same level forget that it is the Stalin-era Soviet Union that made the biggest sacrifices and the biggest contribution to liberating Europe from fascism,” said Russian delegate Alexander Kozlovsky.
For many years the west has downplayed the role of the Soviet Union in WWII says John Laughland from the Institute for Democracy and Cooperation in Paris.
“When you look at the history of the Second World War, the fighting in the east was of such an enormous magnitude that the fighting in the west, like the Normandy landing, pales into insignificance, they are almost non-events in comparison,” Laughland said.
“One can, of course, compare Soviet communism and German Nazism, but there’s one big difference that emerges. Hitler came to power explicitly on the basis of war and racial prosecution. Soviet communism never had a racist element in the way Nazi Germany did.”
History usually supports with the country that wins the war.

This man preferred private and parochial education and would have supported public school vouchers.
