Washington Post: GOP's Brown branded turncoat for jobs bill vote

BOSTON -- A month after being crowned the darling of national conservatives, Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts is being branded "Benedict Brown" for siding with Democrats for voting for a jobs bill endorsed by the Obama administration.

Like the four other GOP senators who joined him, the man who won the late Democrat Edward Kennedy's seat says it's about jobs, not party politics.

The four other GOP senators who broke ranks - Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, George Voinovich of Ohio and Christopher "Kit" Bond of Missouri - also were criticized on Tuesday. But Brown was the big target on conservative Web sites, talk shows and even the Facebook page his campaign has promoted as an example of his new-media savvy.

"We campaigned for you. We donated to your campaign. And you turned on us like every other RINO," said one writer, using the initials for "Republican-In-Name-Only."

The conservative-tilting Drudge Report colored a photo of Brown on its home page in scarlet.

Update: According to the Huffington Post, Some of Brown's fans are giving him some support, but the lion's share of comments read like "LYING LOW LIFE SCUM HYPOCRITE!" and "What a bummer dude. We didn't need another Olympia Snowe," and "BROWN, YOU JUST REMEMBER YOU DOUCHEBAG...WE ARE WATCHING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YOU FAILED AT THE FIRST CHANCE...YOU SCUM SUCKING ASS!!! GUESS MY 10-15 HOUR WORK DAYS WILL HELP PAY FOR THIS TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!"

The new senator responded by calling into a Boston radio station.

"I've taken three votes," Brown said with exasperation. "And to say I've sold out any particular party or interest group, I think, is certainly unfair."

Bill Mayer: Tea Baggers prefer white tea

Rightardia is glad to see something we can use that is written by Bill Mayer. Once Mayer went on HBO, he did not release any of his videos with embeds so bloggers could post them.

Mayer went after the Tea Baggers who appear to be pining for the 1950s, a great time to be male and white. Of course, during the 1950s we had a more equitable tax system in the US and the middle class was robust.

However, it wasn't until the turbulent 1960s and President Lyndon Johnson that there was some racial justice in the US. The Democrats paid a huge price for racial justice. The Dixiecrats left the Democratic party in droves and became Republicans.

The Dixicrat racism became the basis for Reagan Republican revival. As far as we can tell, there is little to distinguish a Tea bagger from a Limbaugh ditto-head.

From the perspective of the white Tea Baggers, it was bad enough that the Democrats swept the 2008 elections. It was simply horrible that the Democrats were led by a black man.

We have read the racist Tea bagger jokes, noticed the racist Oboker bobblehead and have to wonder why a political movement would question a president's religion, citizenship and birth certificate. All are irrational and inflammatory personal attacks.

We don't think the Tea party movement will succeed. The Tea Partiers have suggested the Massachusetts Republican victory in the Senate was their victory, but the there was also a Tea Party candidate in Massachusetts Senate race. He only garnered two per cent of the vote.

The Tea party speeches we heard were listless and Sarah Palin's speech went flat and received a lot of criticism, even from the GOP. Palin suggested Obama could be re-elected by attacking Iran and supporting Israel which is a Republican pipe dream.

Rightardia suspects that the Tea party movement will fade.

Tea Partiers, Birthers and AstroTurfers Turn on GOP Candidates

The Astroturf anti-tax, anti-government movement sweeping through Republicans nationwide is proving a thorn in the side of the national party. The loose coalition known as "tea partiers" or "tea party protesters" are drafting guerrilla candidates to take on GOP-approved incumbents.

"We will be a headache for anyone who believes the Constitution of the United States ... isn't to be protected," said Dick Armey. Army is the well-paid leader of the tea-party-planning group FreedomWorks.

In Florida, tea party activist are defying GOP wishes by supporting the right wing House Speaker, Marco Rubio, over centrist incumbent Gov. Charlie Crist. Conservative groups have been crusading against Crist ever since he supported President Obama's bailout and stimulus packages.

Tea Partiers are also opposing GOP-backed Senate candidates in California, Colorado and Connecticut. These wing nuts say they are hoping to punish the Republican Party for refusing to abide by a small-government, anti-tax philosophy.

Of course, the GOP has never really believed in small government and has built up national defense whenever they have won a presidential election. In addition, the conservative anti-tax approach cut taxes for the top income earners in the country during the Bush Administration which led to a doubling of the national debt and a $3 trillion national deficit.

Tea Baggers seems to be white, uptight and full of right

The video indicates the crowd that attended the Sept. 12 event was light. The Tea Bagger crowd was not tightly packed suggesting the reports that the crowd was about 75.000 people were accurate.

Many people interviewed appeared to be undereducated. Some were ignoramuses.
