Queen Meg is losing Latino voters

Queen Meg says she like tacos and quesadillas

Meg Whitman wanted to portray a new Republican face to Latino voters. Then a controversy erupted over the undocumented maid she had fired.

A contest that had been too close to call shifted to a 48 percent to 42 percent lead for Brown, the attorney general and former two-term governor, a Rasmussen Reports poll released Oct. 23 showed. anotehr pol showed brown with a double digit lead.

“She tries to be tough on undocumented people, then all of the sudden she has a work relationship with an undocumented,” Henrik Rehbinder, editorial page editor of La Opinion, the largest Spanish-language U.S. newspaper, said in a telephone interview.

Whitman’s own polling showed she “took a hit,” said spokesman Hector Barajas, one of six Hispanics in senior staff positions on her team. She trailed Brown by 20 points among Latinos, according to an Oct. 22 campaign memo.

Meg Whitman faced backlash on Tuesday after she declined a request to take down attack ads currently airing on behalf of her campaign against Democratic rival candidate and former Gov. Jerry Brown.

NBC's Matt Lauer raised the idea of both candidates pulling their negative campaign spots from the airwaves. Brown said he would comply with the request so long as Whitman would as well.
"If Meg wants to do that, I'll be happy to do that. We can have a little discussion today and I'm sure we can work something out," explained the Democratic hopeful.

Whitman at first tried to draw a line between personal attacks and record attacks, which Lauer dismissed as a "question of semantics" and pressed her again.Whitman said:

I will take down any ads that could be even remotely be construed as a personal attack, but I don't think we can take down ads that talk about where Gov. Brown stands on the issues," Whitman said, to boos.

NutMeg thinks Jerry Brown was unfair to her

NutMeg Whitman got caught with an illegal immigrant working for her. She blamed Democratic CA gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown for the scandal, but offers not one shred of evidence that Brown had anything to do with the 11th hour revelation.

Jerry Brown said that if Whitman won’t take responsibility for her actions, then she isn’t fit to be governor.

Oh, the unfairness of it all! It's just not right to pick on a billionaire. Whitman has already spent $100 million of her own money on her campaign.

Meg Whitman on illegal immigrants

More Republican "do as I say, but not 'do as I do." Republicans believe that the rules are different for the 'little people.'

Both Meg Whtiman and Carly Fiorina are looking like losers

The National Republican Senatorial Committee will not spend $1.9 million that they had originally planned to use on last-minute advertising for California Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina according to the Daily Caller.
Boxer, in particular, has done so well that national Democrats have argued that the NRSC's withdrawal of a $1.9 million ad buy for the last week before the Nov. 2 election was a sign that the GOP is giving up on their candidate. Republicans say they merely wanted to give Fiorina flexibility to spend the money around the state and not just in one city.

Fiorina Deputy Campaign Manager Julie Soderlund said in a statement to HuffPost, "It is unfortunate that the Daily Caller would print these falsehoods being perpetuated by Barbara Boxer and her Democratic allies.

There is not one shred of truth to this rumor, the NRSC’s commitment to Carly has not changed and the fact is that this is nothing but wishful thinking on the part of Barbara Boxer who has yet to secure a similar commitment from her own party."

Two recent polls show Boxer with a six to eight point margin. This is not good news for the California GOP.

An immigrant worker just outed California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman for firing her after she asked for hellped getting papers.

Whitman got upset and let her go. The Republican candidate for governor said, "I don't know you, and you don't know me."

TMZ reported Wednesday that the former housekeeper of plans to make "explosive" allegations against Whitman in a live news conference coming later at 11 AM PT.

The maid is supposedly planning "to tell how she suffered as a long-time, Latina household employee in Meg Whitman's home."

California gubernatorial candidate Queen Meg Whitman mistreated a Hispanic serf

By MICHAEL FALCONE Sept. 29, 2010
Queen Meg Whitman

California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman today found herself battling allegations that she knowingly employed an undocumented immigrant housekeeper and failed to pay a portion of her wages. Queen Meg then fired  then fired the worker when she became politically inconvenient in an act of political damage control.

At a news conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday organized by celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, Whitman's former housekeeper and nanny, Nicky Diaz, tearfully recounted how in June 2009 she was suddenly terminated by Whitman and her husband, Griffith Harsh. this was after she she asked the couple for legal help to obtain U.S. citizenship.

Allred also alleged that Whitman became aware of Diaz's undocumented status years earlier, but took no action.

Diaz told reporters that just a few months before Whitman announced she was running for governor as a Republican, the former eBay CEO fired her after nine years spent cleaning the couple's 3,700-square-foot home in an upscale Northern California suburb. Diaz also drove their children to and from school and appointments.

From now on you don't know me and I don't know you," Diaz said Whitman told her in the summer of 2009. "I was shocked and hurt that Ms. Whitman would treat me this way after nine years. I realized at that moment that she didn't appreciate my work. I felt like she was throwing me away like a piece of garbage.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Whitman said, "Nicky had falsified the hiring documents and personal information she provided to the employment agency that brought her to us in 2000." The statement continued, "Nicky told me that she was admitting her deception now because she was aware that her lie might come out during the campaign."

Could this be a Democratic Dirty Trick (DDT) on Whitman? Rightardia sure hopes so. Billionaires are fair game. It looks like the Democrats have released the hounds.

Perhaps this is why Rahm Emmanuel is leaving the White House.

TMZ update:

Meg Whitman's rival Jerry Brown is wasting no time making on  Whtiman's undocumented worker scandal -- saying the former maid has a "compelling story."

The Democratic candidate for governor of California said he wants Nicky Diaz Santillan to be "treated with respect and dignity as this story unfolds."

Brown added:

After more than a year of Whitman demanding immigration policy that 'holds employers accountable,' we learn that accountability doesn't extend to her own actions.
