Haaretz Daily Newspaper : Jewish Funds for Justice wants Glenn Beck fired

Beck and Boehner are both crying about the loss of the presidency

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) reported  U.S. Jewish group has called on Fox News to fire Glenn Beck.

Jewish Funds for Justice wants Beck fired because of a series of what they call 'disturbing' remarks, including an attack on left-wing Jewish billionaire George Soros.

Late last year, Beck dubbed Soros a "puppet master" who wants to take over U.S. Beck called Soros a

Jewish boy helping to send the Jews to the death camps

In a show aired late last year, Beck called Soros - a Jewish-Hungarian Holocaust survivor - a Nazi collaborator, for admittedly aiding the emptying out of Jewish homes during WWII.

Soros was eight years old at the time and the Nazis  would have sent him to a concentration camp if they had known he was Jewish.

On Sunday, the JTA reported that the Jewish Funds for Justice attempted to hand in its 10,000-signature petition to the Manhattan headquarters of News Corp., Fox's parent company, but was denied by security, prompting JFSJ president Simon Greer to mail in the petition instead.

George Soros Tells Progressive Donors Obama Might Not Be The Best Investment

Sam Stein stein@huffingtonpost.com | HuffPost Reporting
First Posted: 11-17-10 04:10 PM | Updated: 11-17-10 04:34 PM

WASHINGTON -- At a private meeting on Tuesday afternoon, George Soros, a longtime supporter of progressive causes, voiced blunt criticism of the Obama administration. Soros suggested that Democratic donors direct their support somewhere other than the president.

The Hungarian-American financier was speaking to a small side gathering of donors who had convened in Washington D.C. for the annual gathering of the Democracy Alliance -- a formal community of well-funded, progressive-minded individuals and activists.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of his remarks, Soros told those in attendance that he is

"used to fighting losing battles but doesn't like to lose without fighting."

"We have just lost this election, we need to draw a line," he said, according to several Democratic sources. "And if this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else."

Michael Vachon, an adviser to Soros, did not dispute the comment, though he stressed that there was no transcript of a private gathering to check. Vachon also clarified that the longtime progressive giver was not referring to a primary challenge to the president.

"Mr. Soros fully supports the president as the leader of the Democratic Party," said Vachon. "He was not suggesting that we seek another candidate for 2012. His comments were made in a private, informal conversation that was about the need for progressives to be more forceful in promoting their agenda. He was stressing the importance of being heard by elected officials."

Dissatisfaction with the Obama administration was not limited to Soros's private gathering with donors.

On Wednesday morning, Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina received several tough questions during his address to the Democracy Alliance. According to a source in the room, he was pressed multiple times as to why the administration has declined to be more combative with Republicans, both in communication and legislative strategy.

Another source in the room said the exchange was not entirely contentious as people were simply expressing frustration about the fact that "we just came out of an election where the right wing and the Republicans distorted what was going on."

Rightardia thinks the Soros comments are long overdue. Bill Maher even noted that GOP is better able to get thing done then modern Democrats. George W. Bush was elected by the slimmest of margins. it didn't stop him form trying to privatize Social security or starting a $ trillion dollar war in Iraq.

Obma was elected with a clear mandate. He had a Democratic House and could have written an Executive Order to end "Don't ask, don't Tell" but the was too timid to do this. Bush wouldn't have cared if the House passed a law that infringed on the executive powers of the president. He would have ignored the law and let he courts work it out.

Democrats need to get things done and with haste. The Democrats cannot become the party of the plodding and timid.

Why does a light weight like Sarah Palin think she can beat Obama in 2012? America wants a strong leader, not a president who is afraid to make waves. Obama needs to stop walking softly and to start using the big stick.

The Republicans will oppose anything that Obama does, so why try to seek compromise and bi-partisanship? Start swinging the stick.

Winger tries to connect Media Matters to George Soros

August 06, 2010 12:16 pm ET by Ari Rabin-Havt

Wednesday afternoon as our building held an ice cream social in the lobby, a young man showed up at Media Matters office armed with a camera.

Positioning himself outside our office, he asked people leaving the building what it was like to work for George Soros.

I decided to go have a conversation with him: I would like to note, no matter how many times Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly says it, George Soros has never made a contribution to Media Matters. However, if he would like to make a contribution, he can do so at MediaMatters.org.

There is nothing wrong with tracking -- Media Matters regularly sends trackers to conservative events. If you are going to track, perhaps it would be a good idea to come prepared with more than a single question based on a false premise.

And when you are confronted with your own questions, have a better answer than rubbing your nose and mumbling.

Rightardia thought the young conservative man might have a cocaine problem.
The young man who is the conservative tracker is the likely product of the American fraternity system. These ivory fortresses on college campuses across the US produce unthinking dullards like this tracker.

The GOP likes progressive bogey men like George Soros and ACORN. The conservatives  stereotype progressive people and organizations to explain how thy lost the last election.

GEORGE SOROS is Chairman of Soros Fund Management, LLC and founder of The Open Society Institute.

The Open Society Institute works to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens. To achieve its mission, OSI seeks to shape public policies that assure greater fairness in political, legal, and economic systems and safeguard fundamental rights

Mr. Soros was born in Budapest in 1930. He survived the Nazi occupation and then fled communist Hungary for England, where he graduated from the London School of Economics.

He then settled in the United States, where he accumulated a large fortune through the investment advisory firm he founded and managed.

Rightardia always looks forward to seeing Mr. Soros when he visits our Manhattan facility.  He is a great man.

We heard that Mr. Soros had a wonderful time at the Chelsea Clinton wedding.

We will also ask him to consider making contributions to Media Matters, an organization we admire.

Mr. Soros is the author of eleven books, including most recently The Soros Lectures at the Central European University.

WMR: Conservative media mis-translates Russian PM Vladimir Putin

July 26, 2010 --The neocons, who can always be relied upon to lie, cheat, steal, fabricate, have also refined the propaganda art of mistranslating foreign language quotes of various foreign leaders for their own insidious purposes.

In 2006, the corporate media hyped the supposed statement in Farsi by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad that Israel should be "wiped off the map." In fact, what Ahmedinejad actually said, "the regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time."

Certainly, regime change, something the neocons advocate against governments hostile to their global designs, is not the same as wiping a nation off the map.

The mistranslations of Ahmedinejad's speeches were largely courtesy of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a Mossad front operation that operates out of a post office box in Washington, DC.

It now appears that Reuters, taking a page from MEMRI, is conducting the same kind of mistranslation operations against Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

In a July 24 report from Foros, Ukraine, Putin is quoted that he recently met the so-called Russian spies, arrested in the United States and swapped for four Western agents imprisoned in Russia. The article claimed that Putin said he "sang Soviet songs" with the expelled agents told them he admired what they did. However, one of the expelled agents, Anna Chapman is only 29 years old and she would have only ten years old when the USSR collapsed.

Reuters was apparently playing as fast and loose with translations of Russian as MEMRI does with Farsi and Arabic.

RIA Novosti reported that what Putin actually said was he and the expelled agents "sang patriotic songs accompanied by live music and talked about life during the meeting."

That is certainly different than Putin, an ex-KGB agent, singing "Soviet songs" as part of some sort of nostalgic remembrance of the former Soviet Union and KGB.

But that is the picture painted by Reuters from Ukraine, a nation that is embedded with operatives of the CIA's master-manipulator of disinformation tactics in the former Soviet bloc, George Soros.

The neocon Wall Street Journal also ran with the "Soviet song" story, when, in fact, one of the songs was from a 1968 series that ran on television in Moscow.

The Guardian (UK), which has suspiciously hyped the Wikileaks leak of tens of thousands of classified documents dealing with Afghanistan and Pakistan and had to point out that it did not pay Wikileaks for the material, described the TV show theme song as a "sentimental Soviet song."

Putin did not call the song Soviet -- that task was taken up by certain Western media like The Guardian, which are more interested in propaganda dissemination than in news reporting.

A former U.S. intelligence analyst who tracked Russian government communications told WMR, "The Russian word for Soviet is советский (Sovetskiy). The Russian word for patriotic is отечественный (otechestvennyy). Putin either said Soviet or he said patriotic.

If Putin was speaking in Russian, as of course he would, then these words could not have been 'mistranslated' by Reuters. Patriotic Russians these days do not sing the Soviet anthem."

Putin was also reported to have told the alleged Russian agents, "As far as those people are concerned -- everyone of them had a tough life." Reuters reported that Putin was referring to the expelled agents.

However, according to the former U.S. intelligence analyst, Reuters, again, appears to have mistranslated Putin's comments. The ex-analyst said, "When Putin spoke of 'their life being hard,' he was not referring to the alleged hard life of the so-called Russian spies.

He was speaking generically about the difficulty of being a spy." Putin was a KGB agent assigned to East Germany during the Cold War.

Reuters and RIA Novosti agreed on one of Putin's comments to the swapped agents. Putin said he knows those who betrayed the agents by name. Putin said of the scandal, "As I said earlier, this came as a result of betrayal. They [the betrayers] always end up badly taking to drink or drugs, in a gutter' he said, adding that he knew all betrayers by their names."
